It's about $200 to clean and probably the same to altar. The dress is beautiful and the $400 is worth it. Since the train has a lot of drama, get a short veil and simple pearl and diamond necklace/earring set from JC Penney or your favorite department store. Daughter's alterations were done at the bridal salon. They were about $400 for a bustle, lining the straps (they originally irritated her shoulders), and taking the bodice in/adding cups. It would have been less, but they had trouble getting the bodice tight enough, so that took a few visits. (Her dress did not need hemming.) She had the dress steamed before the wedding, I believe that was about $90. After the wedding she had it cleaned and packed in a storage box for around $150.
