Alteration to give chest support now makes back look bad

Tori, on March 25, 2024 at 12:48 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
Hi everyone,
I am so at a loss I’m not sure what to do or ask for from a seamstress. So my dress before it was altered fit better than it does now. It wasn’t supporting the boobs before but now that the chest was taken in, the back looks like my back fat is spilling out of it. I feel like I should have just used only boob tape and never got it altered. Additionally I asked for a little more coverage for the armpit cause I felt like too much of my arm fat was showing but now I think the beautiful shape is compromised. Any suggestions on what I should do or even ask for? I just hate how the back looks now😢Alteration to give chest support now makes back look bad 1

Is the seamstress able to just let it back out and return it to its original shape?

With the picture you provided of your back after alterations, your back still looks fine. Any issue you have may be small enough not to require more alterations. Another option could be to use tape to help make slack on your back.

Right now the next alteration will be to switch out the mesh under the arm with a more flexible mesh to see if that makes everything less tight. If not then yeah I’m going to have to ask her to let it back out. My wedding is April 21st so I’m nervous about time at this point

I would ask for the buttons to be removed & add in a small corset or eyelets with a ribbon to tie because you can get a spot on fit over zippers, buttons or other closures. The first dress I ordered came & was way too big so we removed the zipper & added a corset back. You could definitely take those buttons out & add eyelets & ribbon. Another option could be to remove the buttons entirely & add a piece of textured elastic the same color as your dress so it laid smoothly against your skin but also allowed for structure, flexibility, & stability to hold the straps together so they stay up.
