Alteration recommendations near Chicago

Gina, on January 30, 2018 at 10:28 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 1

Hi guys! I'm getting married in September and will be starting alterations in June/July, however I have no idea where to go. I know I need my dress hemmed, a bustle added, and cups sewn in, and I may need it taken in a bit. I bought the dress at David's Bridal but I hear so many horror stories about alterations there that I'm not sure if I should. So, does anyone know of any reliable and reputable seamstresses or shops that will do alterations for a wedding dress in the Chicago area? I'm in the south suburbs but depending on distance, I can travel a little further.

Also, has anyone gotten alterations done at David's Bridal? Is it usually not as bad as I hear? I'm open to either route, I just have NO idea what is the better choice or who to take the dress to if I don't do David's Bridal.

I had my alterations done in Naperville by a tailor who was recommended to me by the salon where I bought my dress (BHLDN). It’s called Brookdale Tailoring, and the main lady there, Hanna, is fantastic! She’s from South Korea, where she went to fashion design school, and is so sweet. The storefront doesn’t look like much, but they work magic there. I had my dress hemmed, taken in on the side, bustle added, and another layer added to the skirt to fill it out a little more. I was very pleased with the end result.
