Alteration Questions!

Hey everybody! I am one of those annoying brides who has not been able to find a dress that's just right. I toyed with the idea of getting something custom made but it seemed too overwhelming and a little scary. I think I have finally found a dress that checks most of my boxes but I am hoping that the things it doesn't have can be fixed with alterations. The dress has a sheer overlay with lace appliques over a solid fabric and boned bodice and I wonder how difficult/possible it would be to have some sheer panels put in. In my head it seems easy enough to remove the lining in those sections but I am worried that it's more complicated than that or wouldn't work. Has anyone done this or talked to a seamstress about doing something similar?
