Hi so I went to get my wedding dress altered and I was quoted 850 for a hem, taking it in at the sleeves and waist…and adding a bustle. My dress is pictured below. Does this seem accurate? Hi, did you get your alterations done yet? I’m from New England also, in CT, and I just got my dress back on Friday. The seamstress did a beautiful job; took in the top, adjusted the straps, hemmed it and added a bustle for about $390. I know it can be different depending on the dress, but if you’d like a recommendation in the CT area, Irene Rocha in Danbury was wonderful!

That is super expensive. Get a second opinion from an independent seamstress via Google or Instagram. Dry cleaning shops offer alterations so get a quote from them but don’t commit yet until you find someone much lower priced. Even the local fabric stores will have names of seamstresses who will work with you for a fraction of that price with quality work.
