Alteration anxiety

Shawna, on April 17, 2022 at 8:41 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
I had my first fitting on March 25th, they’re having me come back July 1st and the wedding is August 13th. I have no reason to believe anything bad will happen as this bridal store has a good reputation in my area. But I am feeling so anxious that they’re going to ruin my dress and when I go back July 1 it’s going to need more done that can’t be done by August 13.

I wish when I ordered the gown I wouldn’t have sizes up as they recommended (I was between sizes and have now lost weight). I know it can always be taken in, but I get worried about the beautiful lace details and the horror stories I have seen.

I have even done 1 yet because I dont that I need to my dress fits and if I did it would only be a little bit of them. But my girls need there because some is really long but we may go to our cleaners who also does alterations. Because where we gotten our dresses from the prices is high

Try not to stress. Most alterations are done 1-3 months out over several appointments. I had two appointments - first at 2 months out and second at less than 1 month out. I’ve had several friends have one or two more appointments in the last month, and then pick up their dress the week of their wedding. And no one had any issues!

Don't stress! I dropped my wedding gown off to an alterations shop about 2 hours from me.
(Because FH and I live in a shoebox and have nowhere to keep it before the wedding and I have a family member in that city that will take my dress to the wedding). I was PANICKED the last two months since dropping it off. She wasn't going to alter the gown other than hemming all of the skirts and adding a bustle. The top fit, but was snug so I knew if I gained ANY weight it wouldn't fit. But alas, I went and picked it up on Tuesday and it fit perfectly! Try not to stress about it, everything will work out fine!!
