Alter Sweetheart to V neck

Katy, on March 17, 2015 at 7:27 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 3

Hi There,

I have seen so many posts about altering a neckline to a sweetheart....but is it possible to alter a sweetheart neckline to a V-shape? I have bought a dress on a spectacular sale, and the only aspect that doesn't tick the box is the neckline. It is currently sweetheart-boobtube, but I would like to add straps and make it a deep-ish V if possible.

Thanks!

I think you could. Just make sure you find a good alterations person, and find pictures of what you have in mind.

I think it would be pretty straight forward to do if you were willing to do a sheer overlay--you often see combination sweetheart/v-neck dresses like that. If you're hoping to match the fabric of the bodice, it might be a bit pricier, but it should still be possible.

My dress is a sweetheart neckline. I'm having the top custom made into a full back V Neck. It will be the same lace my dress is made of. This is the style I gave my seamstress for inspiration, with a few tweaks of course.

Originally I wanted one of the lace Allure dresses. No way I was paying that much, so I found my dream dress for $275, got 2 yds of extra lace and she's making the rest how I want it. Smiley smile Anything is possible.
