Alright Guys, i Have Officially Joined that Group ...

My FMIL called yesterday to say she ran into one of my FH's distant cousins who we invited and I have met once. The last FH saw him, FH was 8 (he's 32 now). She asked if he was going to the wedding and he said yes! I'm bringing my girlfriend. But I would REALLY LOVE to bring my daughter as well. And of course she would need to bring a friend too. And then he just waited for a response.

We gave him 2 seats and he totally could have brought his daughter instead of his girlfriend. We've never met the daughter or the girlfriend he just started dating and even if we had invited the daughter, no way does this 17 year old need a plus one to our wedding.

Thankfully FMIL for the win! She apparently told him, oh yes, unfortunately all seating and guest count arrangements have been finalized. Thank Heavens!!

Who does this???

Um apparently everyone does this much to my surprise. I do have some wiggle room so I am allowing it as long as I can.

Ugh yeah and I had defended him as a nice guy previously but this is just too ridiculous and rude to me!

Yeah this is the first I've heard and it automatically made me disinclined to allow it based on the way it was brought about!

We had this happen to us! I think people are too scared to ask you to invite more people, so they go to your family! My husbands distant aunt asked my MIL if she could bring her 3 granddaughters, all aged 11-17. They weren't invited and we hadn't met them before. My MIL threw us under the bus though, and said "Oh they're in charge of the guest list, not me." So when her RSVP came back to us with 3 extra written in names, MIL had to go back to her and tell her she was only given 2 seats and that can't be changed.

    The nerve of some people.

My FW’s aunt sent us a message yesterday asking why we didn’t invite her best friend as well as her EX husband... WHAT?!?! We invited the aunts 3 grown daughters (my FW’s cousins) but never did it cross my mind that the aunts best friend, who we barely know, or the aunts EX husband should be invited. People just don’t understand budgets and “price per head”.

13 days out from the wedding at FSIL asked if she could invite a friend. (Even though we’ve invited 3 of her friends already) and I told her okay, “I have a tiny bit of wiggle room.... go ahead and invite one more”, to which she says “okay I actually have 5 more that need an invite” 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️
