already Married, dress still held hostage

Hello!

So I got married May 29, 2020! We went from 200 people to 13. and I wouldn't change a thing Smiley heart

I had purchased my dress back in January of 2020. Paid in full. The dress fit me perfect, so I only needed minor alterations. Minor as in the lady was going to add a small amount of lace to the chest area so cleavage wouldn't be too low. I had the dress at home for only 2 weeks then took it back so that they could do the alterations, I had to pick up the dress March 6 but something came up and I couldn't make it so their next available appt was for March 20th.

but then Covid happened. I called a couple days prior to my March 20th appt and they were already closed. I called multiple times and nobody answered. I didn't freak out too much because I was like " The dress is practically ready, this virus will blow over and I'll be able to pick it up in May." NOPE!

Towards the end of May (the week before my wedding actually) things started to slowly open up but the store my dress was in never did. To this day it is still closed. The store is in a mall. The mall has been open but only select stores.

I was so blessed I found a lady the made me a dress in TWO DAYS! If it weren't for her taking on the task I wouldn't have had anything to wear to my wedding.

All over the receipt it says FINAL SALE. NO REFUNDS etc.

They've had the dress with them this whole time. Why couldn't they call me before they closed and said "come pick yo stuff up girl cause were gonna close??" My dress was done and ready! I felt it was unprofessional of them Smiley sad

Do any of you know if there's a way (if any) I could get my money back? or how to fight this? I'd appreciate any feedback!

I’m not a lawyer, but they didn’t hold up to their end of the deal. You paid for a dress for your wedding day that you’ve never received, and still don’t have. At this point it’s borderline scam.

I would recommend contacting your bank if you paid with your card if you file a claim under merchandise never received. I’m sorry your going through that . It’s so unprofessional!

I agree with the PP. file a claim with your bank. I would also contact the store as soon as they open and talk to the manager. This is t fair and they should have called all of their clients before the shut down .

Oh my gosh Angelica, that really stinks. I would definitely try to find a way to contact the store or owner ASAP and talk to your bank to see what you can do. They definitely should have found some way to communicate with their clients in the last few months!

I'm sorry that happened to you. That is plain bad business. To me if they haven't opened to some point by now they probably won't be reopening. Definitely call email social media stalk to see if you can get a response. If all else fails dispute the charge. I think you have up to a year to make a claim.
