Allure Wedding Dresses - In stock or order?

Morgan, on December 12, 2010 at 2:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 10

Hi everyone! I'm new to all of this...got engaged two weeks ago and am planning the wedding on April 9th. I'm quickly finding out from boutiques that I have too short of a time frame to make/order a dress, even with a rush. I like the Allure Bridal line and since it's Sunday and most shops are closed, is Allure a line that is normally in stock at bridal stores? Or do you have to order them? I'm a size 8...so i would think that's a fairly common size. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks soooo much!

From my experience you shouldnt have a hard time especially with your size... my dress is a 14 which made it a bit harder to find since not everyone carries bigger sizes but I think you will be fine!

I doubt most places will have it in stock. They usually have sample dresses, but they've been tried on ALOT and are usually dirty.

I'd go to salons like David's Bridal, or Alfredo Angelo. They can get a dress for you in time.

But to be blunt- am April 9th wedding doesn't leave much time for planning. Have you even been able to book a venue on such short notice? I know in my area, most halfway decent venues are booked a good year in advance.

Meghan B. ~ Yeah, my fiance is in the Air Force and graduated from the US Air Force Academy so it was really easy to get the chapel on the academy and one of the reception halls on campus. And yep, I know it doesn't seem like a lot of time, but the military has been the big factor on putting time constraints...we want to take care of everything asap because he might deploy this summer or get orders to move from out current location. Everything is ready to go and booked but the dress...that's been the only hangup.

That's good! Military chapels are typically very pretty, and have alot of availability. It can be difficult for alot non-Air Force personnel to attend, but it can be done. It will be differnt for you since he's at the Academy.

Glad your planning is coming along so quickly! And don't forget- we are here to help!

I got my dress at David's Bridal. It was in stock in another store. I made one trip, bought it and had it 9 days later. So, you will have a dress from somewhere! Rush orders can be done too!

See I bought off the rack, actually bought 2 dresses off the rack and Ive been very happy with what I got. When I went in, my wedding is June 11th and the shop owners both were like Oh gosh, you have no time. I was told it was borderline possible to get my dress in time, even with June.

Thanks so much! Yeah, the chapel is not like any other I've seen, here is a link if you're curious http://www.usafa.edu/superintendent/hc/chapelpics/ . There are different requirements to get married there so since not many people are eligible, it was easy. I'm thanking my lucky stars only because at least it's one less thing to be stressed out about! As far as guests, it's actually been pretty easy. We have to make sure they are on a list in order to get on base but the USAFA is actually open to the public since most of the property is considered public land. The actual campus/dorms/classroom are sectioned off. Thanks for the positive info...I'll just made an appointment in Houston when we go visit his family for the holidays next week. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed.

@Morgan - I have an allure dress (style C143). Typically it does take many months to come in but mine came in around the 3 month mark. I guess it depends on where your order falls and when they are cutting your style. If you really love the allure dress, you may see if the bridal store would be willing to sell you the sample at a discount (and throw in the cleaning). Good luck.

Most companies have a certain amount of Hanging Stock. Sounds just like it is, made, ready to go, and hanging in their warehouse. They obviously can't have every size in every color, but they usually have a varied selection. If you can find a style that you like, ask the salesperson to call the company and see if there is any hanging in your size.

There are also different rush periods for different companies. 5 weeks, 8 weeks, etc, so ask all those questions when you go in. Good Luck!
