All those invitation questions

Fmv, on August 22, 2020 at 2:21 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 11
We sent out our wedding invites on Wednesday. Yay! We have about 62 days untill we say i do.

We are already getting calls from guests asking if they can bring someone, or why they werent given a plus one. Guests are also contacting our parents asking them questions.
In our invites we even included a letter to guests letting them know our venue has new guidelines and that we had to uninvite alot of guests due to regulations. Also that we would no longer accommodate any added guests or substitutes.
Some people havent even received their invites yet and im already annoyed with these questions lol it is super uncomfortable and awkward to tell people no or have to explain things.
Is anyone dealing with this or dealt with invite questions?

Unfortunately some people don't pay attention. Reaffirm that due to Covid restrictions you are only allowed a certain number. If they are still upset, they have the right to stay home.

Good grief! That’s so annoying. I didn’t have that, and I sent out invites twice (we postponed from April). I agree with above comment, blame covid and move on. Don’t feel bad at all.

That is so annoying, people don’t understand it’s already hard enough as it is! Personally with the 50 person limit in ny we don’t have that many people now with plus ones so I’m contacting each individual to let them know personally. I feel like such a jerk doing it, but people have to understand that this time is especially hard on us and it’s really restricting for us! I would just say, “restrictions have made it really hard on us and we want the closest people there to celebrate with us, and unfortunately with the restrictions we can only have a limited amount of people so we are extremely limited.” People never pay attention to what’s right in front of them, it’s aggravating as a bride.

You’d think that people would be a little more understanding during this pandemic 🙄

It's ridiculous but you'll definitely just have to reiterate. I've had to do that a couple times just with the save the dates. I had a cousin (elder) ask me what state our wedding was in when its clearly on the card 😒. Some people just don't pay attention. You've provided all necessary info but clearly it isn't always enough.

Whew! That does sound frustrating. Fortunately, I haven't experienced this.

Oh, this happens even when there's not a pandemic.
I kid you not, DH's BM suddenly came up with a girlfriend and tried to get her invited last minute. Ditto for my bridesman! (My bridesman and I are very close. For him to claim he was dating her "for a year" ... when I didn't meet her until 2 months before the wedding was... weird? And none of our other friends had heard of her, either.)

I'm sorry. Somehow, everyone knows you're not supposed to ask for a plus one, and yet... everyone asks.

I Recently Had My FH’s Cousin Text Me Saying “Hey Ella Misplaced Her Invite And Asked If You Could RSVP For Her.”
Mind You, This Person Isnt On Our Guestlist And Never Received An Invite In The First Place

I Also Received A Call From Someone Trying To RSVP Their Daughter On Our Wedding Website, But It Obviously Wasnt Working Because She Wasnt Invited.
    Its Frustrating
