All inclusive venue deposit- how much do you put down?

Hi everyone! First post, yay! I know every venue is different, but if the final price is largely dependent on the guests attending (price per guest), but the amount of guests will probably be less than we invite, is the down payment based off the minimum amount of people required? Hi everyone! First post, yay!

I know every venue is different, but if the final price is largely dependent on the guests attending (price per guest), but the amount of guests will probably be less than we invite, is the down payment based off the minimum amount of people required? Or is it based off of the amount we invite?

Thanks in advance for your help!

We honestly got a good deal, we're even allowed to continue to make payments as long as at least 50% of it is paid by May.

Our all-inclusive venue required a $1,500 deposit at the time of signing the contract. We then pay monthly towards the final cost and all monies are due 30 days prior to the wedding day. Our final cost is based of a 100 guests (regarding if less attend, extra costs should we invite more) plus any additional costs for upgrades, decor, etc.

Ours was 10% of the total number of rooms blocked for us and our guess. As people reserve their rooms, our deposit is given back to us or moves over to our reception cost. Same goes for any rooms not used.

That’s good! We’ve already paid half towards ours so far so our coordinator said just hold off on payments until we have a better idea of what will happen with Covid!

That's a good plan, it'd be bad if you paid all that money & something happened. For us, FH wants to have mostly paid off by the end of the year so that when we're close enough, there won't be any surprises & we can better calculate extras if needed. Our final payment is due 7 days out which is when the final guest count is also due, which is good since RSVP's & guest count can always vary close to the date.

Ours is due 10 days out! But thankfully the venue coordinator is allowing us until February (a month before) to decide if we want to have the wedding, push it back, or get a full refund.

That's good, they're working with you and giving you some time to decide on things. Ours gave out refunds to cancelled weddings this year so I doubt they'd be able to give us our money back if something happened, but we were told they'd work with us to come up with a solution. I pray that we can hold our wedding next July though.

It Depends On The Venue, For Ours We Had A Minimum 3k To Pay Just For Booking The Reception Room. And Then Add On The Price For Food. Our Deposit Went To That 3k For The Room.
