All drinks in a cup or can?

Kelsie, on May 30, 2019 at 1:45 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 12

So our venue doesn't allow bottles, as I know a good bit don't. Originally we were going to just have nicer, plastic cups for wine and cider and get cans for the beer. But now I'm wondering if we should just have all drinks poured into cups.

What have you done or what are you planning on doing?

I think cans are fine! Especially depending on what your wedding favor is - it would be cute if you had koozies!

We had wine in wine glasses and beer in bottles. If your wedding is more formal I would pour everything into cups.

We ordered 16oz plastic cups with our names and date on them since we had kegs and wine. Huge hit with our guests since they also got to take them home.

We had glasses available but the bartenders gave guests the option if they wanted their beers poured into a glass. I suspect some people did but most just went for the bottle/can. But honestly if it’s a plastic cup, I’d much rather just drink from the can. No need to waste a cup.

That's very true. I was considering doing koozies, so that would make more sense!

That may depend on your venue and their liquor license. We ordered alehorns for the groomsmen gifts but our venue wants to pour into glass tumblers at the bar first and then let the guys transfer to their mug. Basically it's all about pour control.

If I were you I'd skip the cups and go for koozies instead.

We aren't allowed to have bottles of drinks either, so we're having all drinks poured into clear plastic cups.

We're doing 9oz plastic cups for wine and mixed drinks, beers cans with koozies, and customized 16oz cups for water, tea, lemonade, etc. We'll also have extra disposable 16oz cups just in case. We're allowed glass bottles but not outside, so we're just skipping them.

I'd probably just opt to pour everything into cups.

    Random question:

Did you try to fit the plastic cups (9oz and 16oz) into the beer can koozies? We decided last minute to go with kegs instead of cans for our October reception, so I'd love to be able to fit the cups into the koozies I already purchased. I'm debating on creating waste with disposable cups or spending a bit extra and getting 16oz reusable cups (less than $50 for 150 if blank, which would match our blank koozies). (I haven't had the chance to scrounge up a stadium cup yet but am trying the disposable cup when I get home.)

We ended up not doing the koozies actually. We just got over budget, and I’m pretty glad we didn’t. We also just got 9 oz cups and let everyone keep their beer in a can unless they wanted it in cups! The 9 oz I feel like would be too small to fit in a koozie just by looking at them but I’m not sure. The reusable could be an option! I think those would be easier to fit into koozies too if you wanted since they aren’t as flimsy
