AliExpress - ever ordered from here?

Shamika, on July 12, 2014 at 12:29 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

Was searching for a nice and inexpensive bridal shower dress and came across AliExpress.com Has anyone ever ordered from this website? Seems like each item is from different sellers. Was your experience? Or maybe you know someone who used the website.

Thanks in advance, ladies!

I haven't used AliExpress but I was in a wedding recently and we got our bridesmaids dresses from tbdress (I believe it's the same concept as AliExpress). Well, the dresses came in and everyone's lengths were different, did not look nearly as nice as in the pictures, measurements were iffy (it took an act of God to zip mine up and another girl need ALOT of safety pins). Some skirts were fuller than others.. It was doable but I really don't recommend it.

I did it's similar to ebay. Different sellers etc so it's hard to who is good. My dress was beautiful but the arm holes were 3 inches too small from what I requested. I got a 40% refund after escalating a dispute. If it's a simple dress it may be fine but anything intricate is iffy.

I've ordered my hair extensions from there in the past and was satisfied. I've never ordered apparel, but I ordered my bridal jewelry from there a couple of weeks ago for dirt cheap. I hope they look like the pictures that were posted.

I have... I based my ordering off of the number of positive reviews their shop has (just like I do on ebay). FH got his suit from one of the shops for $45.00 and the quality and fit was exquisite. He thanks me everyday for encouraging him to get his suit from there.

Thanks for the feedback ladies. I am not going to order the dress, but would order things that aren't clothing from there. And the seller I was looking at didn't have any reviews. Def don't want to take my chances. Thanks again! :-)

I purchased some leaf charms for my invites from them. I wasn't happy with how small they were. The pic was deceiving.

It's like Chinese Etsy/eBay. I've made around 150 purchases from different sellers in the past 3 years. You do get what you pay for, so be careful and allow 6-8 weeks for shipping. I'm getting 1-2 more things from them for our wedding.

Aliexpress is hit or miss for me. I have great decorations like candelabras and gold 2 feet tall metal frames for less than rentals. I’ve also bought hideous swap meet looking shoes that will be donated.

I hear a lot of the designer bashing and stealing wedding dress styles and photos. That’s true but there are some sellers that have their own Instagram and I feel their own designs. May be inspired by Berta or Vera but hey most dresses like Allure or Mon Cheri end up looking like copies to me eventually.

However, I didn’t buy my gown from China. Thank you ladies for the tip on consignment sites and sample sales. I went to a designer sample sale and got a $9000 Inbal Dror gown for $2000. Original bride changed her mind and never picked up her dress. Shop used it on the mannequins.

Before that, I became obsessed with Still White and Preowned Wedding Dress. Oh my, their authentic dresses are selling for like 80% off. Most I wanted were never worn from brides that had multiple dresses or cancelled their weddings. They also have a lot of sample dresses from salons getting rid of their older merchandise. Doesn’t hurt to look.

I do have a custom made boho beach wedding dress I am getting made for my engagement photos from Aliexpress. Ordered it on Sunday. I took a photo from a seller’s store I like and drew on it for him to make changes -like adding sheer lining at the bust and slimmer skirt so I won’t look like a runaway bride in public. I also showed the seller photos from guests reviews to emphasize things on an actual real dress I didnt like so that it will flatter my body more. Will post photos when I receive it.
