Alibaba and wholesale websites

Has anyone ever purchased anything from Alibaba? I'm seraching for decor and Alibaba keeps coming up. It looks pretty shady, but I don't want to rule it out just yet. What have you heard about them or what other wholesale websites have you used?

I also keep coming up with them for decor. I'm looking for squared mirrored vases and they are the only site I could find that has them. I was thinking of ordering a small amount of something cheap to test. Better to waste $20 than $200!

As an Etsy seller, I've seen an awful lot of Alibaba claiming to be able to sell you hundreds or thousands of items that are handmade products I know take weeks to complete a single one. They use the pictures and descriptions copied and pasted from Etsy shops. Consequently, I figure you're highly unlikely to actually receive items as described.

Don't do it. If it looks shady or you haven't used then before, research, research some more, read through the terms and conditions (at least the cancellation, return, and refund policies)... Then sleep on it, then find a reputable or secure site. Oh, and don't get your credit card or debit card out until you find a company or Etsy vendor you can trust.
