Alfred Angelo - liquidation sale - worth it?

Shannon, on January 22, 2018 at 1:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13
I live in Phoenix AZ there is an Alfred Angelo store in Tucson AZ about an hour and 45 minutes away from me that's having a liquidation sale.

My question is are their dresses even worth the drive to go see what's left? Is their service good?

I know a bunch of women who had bought dresses before they shut down were left like high and dry so that doesn't put a good taste in my mouth so far.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Their dresses are beautiful. It’s hard to say what they have left but when I was dress shopping they had a lot I really liked. They were nice but I doubt the people selling them are going to offer the same customer service as they did in the store.

I got my Alfred Angelo dress from a boutique shop on a good sale since they are discontinued. The company itself is out of business so I'm not sure what you mean by their service. You won't be able to send it to them to have any alterations or anything. If you mean the service of the shop you are looking at going to, I would hope they would give you the same service as looking for any other dresses, but since the AA's are on a huge markdown I'm not sure it will be the same experience for you.

There was one near me last fall and I was going to go, but had to work. Honestly, the dresses were so discounted that I didn’t plan on leaving there without a dress no matter what because I refuse to pay almost $1,000 for a dress. I’d at least go look.

I live in NY and my dream dress is actually an Alfred Angelo dress...you can believe how heartbroken I was to finally have my wedding date set and they had already declared bankruptcy by that point (which seeing as I was stalking that dress I had found out that way..) now I have to call those stores before they all close and see if they possibly have the dress I want in the size I need (which I haven't gotten measured yet...so that's a problem) but even though it's a long shot I'm still going to try!! Because if you don't try you'll never know!

    I say it's worth a shot!

I went to one of the closed stores a few months ago. When I called in advance, they were able to tell me how many dresses were left in my size range. Maybe give them a call so you know if it'll be a worthwhile visit.

I ended up buying mine at an extreme discount!

I actually JUST got back from one of their stores here in Tampa. As someone mentioned, I should have called to ask how many dresses they had left on my size.

I seriously was in the store for 3 minutes. They had absolutely nothing. Most dresses were ripped and stained. There were about 5 dresses in my size and most of them weren’t my style whatsoever. I was actually very surprised in the very low quality of their dresses.

Just my opinion. I would say call before you make the drive. I wish I had done that! Would have saved me 45 minutes.

Thank You for your input. You saying the dresses were low quality is enough for me to be convinced not to make the drive lol.

    You’re welcome!

i know they advertise “dresses that were 6,000 are now 300”! I rummaged through the dresses they had. Their original prices (they had tags) were around the 600 dollar range. NOT 6,000. Maybe they had slim pickings already, but I wouldn’t recommended them solely based on what I saw. I was pretty glum after a 45 minute drive to walk in and out of the store lol.

The sale here locally is not by any Alfred Angelo entity, the owner of the building is now stuck with all the dresses and they are selling them to make up for lost rent. I think it's important to point out that you may be helping a small local community business, not supporting the AA that screwed so many people over.

I bought 2 DRESSES at the liquidation sale in Texas and they're STUNNING! 😍 one is a vintage mermaid with lace the other is a limited edition Disney Cinderella dress! Both were $640 worth $4000 together.

It depends on when you go. I live in Tampa, the first time I went to the Alfred Angelo near me I was not able to find anything that worked for me but I saw others who tried on stuff that was really great for them. I ended up going back there last weekend and found the perfect dress! Apparently, they are getting shipments from other stores that are closing their doors. I am not sure how many locations are getting more inventory, but I would call and see what they have left like others have suggested.

At least at the Tampa Store, the service is not like it would be at a typical bridal store. They were not assisting in finding a dress, trying on, etc - just working on keeping stuff organized and working the register.
