That's really unfortunate. At my job there's multiple properties so if there was ever additional help that was needed, another property could ask for a few employees to help cover. Would you be able to do something like that?? As far as Carnival and Jetblue, were your bookings non-refundable?

Oh no! Can you talk to your superior or someone above who can probably make an exception? Could someone cover for you? That is so terrible, so sorry!

How far in advance did you provided them your request off? If they originally approved it then they can't just cancel on you! How important is this job to you because for them to cancel your request is beyond ridiculous. I would tell my job to kiss my ass! Speak to your manager once you find out if you can cancel or not because if you cant then your job must reimburse you! Jetblue and carnival may not refund you since its so close to the date. Did you buy travel insurance? Because that would be the only way you could possibly get your money back on the flight and cruise. You may be able to move the cruise but carnival will charge you extra or take some money for the late fee. I'm sure if you tell your job they have to refund you for the honeymoon they will find coverage. I'm so sorry your job has added this extra stress when you have other things to worry about with the wedding! good luck.

I’d tell them I wasn’t coming in. You were approved the time off, so unless you were told that the approval could be rescinded, they can’t just take it back. And this close you probably couldn’t get any of your money back anyway.

I’m sorry. They approved it and they need to honor that. I would really attempt to work with my company on attending my already approved and paid vacation. However, if you got insurance on your cruise, I do think they will let you rebook for a later date.

Girls thank you for all of your reply's. Let me tell you a bit more. I work for a Federal Agency and my work is everything for me I thank God that my fiance is very supportive in this moment and he knows I've work hard to be were I am.

No, I don't no why I didn't take the travel insurance 🤦‍♀️ that was a huge mistake. So far, on monday I have to report to another department and supervisor so I will ask for a private meetong to see my option's. I will also be contacting Jetblue and Carnival, I dont want to cancel but I do have to postpon.
Thank you all for the support, I'm reading you 😘👍💪🙏

Tell your work to kiss your butt. You're getting married. If you gave them more than enough notice then that is there problem

I would speak with your HR department. They cannot simply cancel your request off after it's been approved. It is not your job to ensure that the place is staffed. No ma'am, I would be having words!!

Is there a chance you can work remotely?

I'd talk to my HR, because they are not going to comp you for your loss. It's not your fault they are shot staffed.

I would talk to your HR and ask them to comp it if they won't let you have it off. It may be unrealistic, but it doesn't hurt to ask considering they approved it before and you're helping them out by being cancelling your honeymoon. I understand you love your job but it's unreasonable that they're asking you to cancel it. If it were me I'd call in and use my sick time

Find a new job. It is ridiculous that they won't let you off for your wedding. I would talk to them again and if they still say no, I'd look for a new job.

This is what I was thinking, too. It's not OP's responsibility to staff her office. They approved her time, they knew it was coming. And now they're 'taking back their permission'.

Unless they already have a policy in place (check your employee handbook) stating that they can take back holiday leave permission, this could be a violation of the terms of your employment.

Carnival doesn't do refunds unless you paid the extra for the insurance. At this point I think it's too late to pay the extra and then cancel it, but if you talk to an agent on the phone they may be able to help you with this. Sometimes I think they can push back the cruise, but they'll only credit you a certain percent so you may still end up paying even more money out of pocket to do that.

If your work is still unreasonable after today, I'd send them a bill with the cost of all your nonrefundable travel expenditures so far (hotels, airfare, the cruise) - anything that can't be canceled or rescheduled. Then you can keep working and keep your job, and then maybe they will see how much money it will cost them to actually have you stay as opposed to letting you go.
