Alcohol

Sarah, on April 12, 2022 at 11:20 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 2 8
So me and my SO are having just beer, wine and non alcoholic drinks at our wedding ( we just aren’t really big drinkers so we feel some alcohol is better then none and plus we are already spending so much money on other stuff so signature cocktails aren’t really in the budget ) I’m trying to figure out what type of beer to have and also I want to have a red wine a white wine and a sweet wine because I don’t like dry! Help me with some choices please (: our entrees are prime rib and stuffed chicken ! What wines would pair best ?

Do you mean brands or types? For beer, I'd do something dark but not too dark (Yuengling is a crowd please), something totally light (Bud Light or Blue Moon) and a hard seltzer (Vizzy is my favorite but they're pretty much all the same!). And for wine, depending on how much you want to spend, Kirkland at Costco is totally fine for a budget choice! When I do one wine a color, I always do Pinot Grigio, Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz or Moscato. I'm pretty sure Kirkland has all of those in their brand.

I'd aim for a light beer (ex. Bud Light), a regular beer (ex. Budweiser), and a seasonal beer (ex. a wheat beer for summer, a pumpkin beer for fall, a porter or stout for winter, etc.). For wine, one red and one white would be good - Sauvignon Blanc for white and Pinot Noir for red pair well with a variety of foods. If you're able to provide your own alcohol, look for stores where you can return unopened bottles! We got our alcohol from Total Wine and they took back unopened bottles and I believe opened cases as long as they were full (like an open 30-pack could be returned as long as all 30 bottles/cans were there). Total Wine was also great with planning - they helped us estimate how much beer and wine to buy and even did a wine tasting to help us choose!

Talk to your VIP guests and find out what they prefer. Parents/siblings/best friends will advise you toward what they prefer since they will be attending to avoid a supply of beverages that no one likes.

Seconding Total Wine! If you don't have one nearby, try talking to a local wine place for pairing suggestions. If you both aren't big drinkers then definitely look for somewhere you can return unopened bottles. I don't know much about beer, but I think a red, white, and sweet option would be fine for wine selections.

I second Yuengling being a good crowd pleaser! My husband's friends are all craft beer snobs but they will drink Yuengling without complaint. It might not be their first choice but it is generally non-offensive and can be bought in bulk for a reasonable price. My wedding we had 2 Costco size cases of Yuengling and then 2 "assortment" cases from local breweries (which mostly had IPA's and stouts, since it was winter). This is also a "know your crowd" type of decission though...

I'm not a wine drinker so I can't really help you there!

For beer I’d try to keep it local and ask your VIP guests what they like. My fiancé and I are big beer people and so is my MOH and her husband so we are all going beer tasting soon lol I’d definitely ask the people around you what they like

Really any sweet wine will go but mostly for a beef choice it should be a sweet red wine like zenfeldale a sangria red or white. And chicken can use white sweet Mascota
