Alcohol

Becky, on October 29, 2019 at 12:19 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 13
So my venue provides unlimited soft drinks but you have to provide your own alcohol. After looking at numbers I’m thinking of doing just doing 2 types of beer a red and white wine and 2 types of liquors leaving the guests to decide what to mix with each. I’m thinking jack Daniels and some clear liquor like Bacardi rum, vodka, or Jose Cuervo silver. Would that be weird? If not what would go best with jack Daniels?

We are just doing 3 beers and red and white wine. You could make the jack a signature drink, like jack and coke.

Do they have a bartender for soft drinks and the alcohol you provide ? If so, providing some liquors that the bartenders can mix with the sodas they’re pouring is definitely not weird at all. If it’s all self serve, that gets a bit more complicated, and messy, so I’d either skip liquor or go for signature cocktails— pre-mixing a large bay of something and having it available in a dispenser or pitcher (a light liquor based option and a dark liquor based option are popular choices). I know jack and coke tends to be pretty popular! (Though my crowd tend to prefer whisky straight Smiley winking )

I would recommend vodka as it goes with virtually anything! Will you have any cranberry juice or other non-carbonated drinks? Jack Daniels goes well with coke or on the rocks. Maybe come up with a signature drink utilizing the liquor you decide to bring? That's a fun thing to do!

I would do Jack and Vodka for you liquor! They are so popular and easy to mix with! Sodas, juices or even just some fruit. For beer I would do like a Bud product, corona and maybe a yuengling (my personal favorite lol) gives them a little variety.

For me, I am doing a beer keg (we haven't decided if we're doing one or 2) rum and coke and vodka and cranberry. Keeping it very limited, and very simple. No wine, no champagne! If folks don't like beer or rum and coke or vodka and cran, they can have water, juice or soda! Works great for me. But I personally like your idea!! For me, that's what we're having dark rum and vodka. One dark, one clear to allow for a selection choice!

They actually will provide a bartender for not too much more I think just 100 dollars extra for the whole night which I think is crazy cheap. I would much rather pay for some sort of regulation back there to keep things orderly.

I like your idea too! And I think everyone is right about the ease of mixing things. Vodka and jack make the most sense

I would do vodka or rum to mix and maybe a tequila if your vendor provides mixers for it. You’ll need to play along with that they have so it makes sense and not just provide any alcohol that might go to waste. Tequila is always useful for shots but you can do those with vodka as well. Whisky is recommended for those that like to drink it by itself and if is popular among your group of people. Two options for beer and red and white wine is perfect!
