Alcohol calculations!

Autumn, on July 5, 2019 at 6:39 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
I’m having a hard time with the alcohol decisions! How is everyone calculating their needs and what break down are you doing for the liquor portion? We’re having a half keg of Miller but I’m worried that’s too much Miller and then 3 other beer options.

How many guests are you having and how long is your reception, including cocktail hour? An entire keg on top of 3 other options does seem a lot, especially if you're also serving liquor. I would cut it to a half barrel or get rid of one of the other beer options. We're using the Big Red Liquor's Drink Calculator, but also keeping in mind that more of our guests drink beer than wine.

Our caterer allows us to take leftover alcohol
home so we upped our counts by a couple extra bottles of wine only to keep everything flowing - from pre ceremony to send off (6hours) - we are doing 2 bottles (sig cocktails only) liquor, 36 bottles total of 2 diff beers (18 each), 2 bottles sparkling, 2 bottles red, 4 bottles of white, 4 bottles of rose - plus some “non alcohol” alcohol for non drinkers (Fre wine and Bucklers Beer). We will be having 30 guests.

Does your area have an outlet store that specializes in selling beer/wine/liquor? Sometimes you can go there and ask for consultation from one of their experts to confirm your alcohol needs. Even better, some stores will allow you to return any unopened drinks, so no harm if you order more than you need. Much success!

We have 170 guest on our list, the keg is the half barrel and has 165 servings, then we were going to do 2 case of the other few types. Our family isn’t much for wine drinking so when the ratio says 40-60% of your total alcohol should be wine I feel like it’s high!

I didn’t think about asking if there was a consultant of some sort at the store! They do have a return policy for the liquor and wine but the beer store does not.
