Aisle Runner

Kaitlyn, on February 3, 2020 at 10:56 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 10
Hi everyone! My fiancée and I are planning on having an outdoor wedding but have an indoor space at our venue in case weather isn’t good for our October wedding. I’ve been considering getting an aisle runner but I don’t know how it’ll look and I’ve seen people say an outdoor runner might not be a good idea. I was hoping for some opinions or ideas I haven’t thought of

We're planning on an outdoor ceremony, but I'm buying an aisle runner from Amazon just in case we end up having an indoor ceremony. If we don't end up using it, we can just send it back. I wouldn't recommend using an aisle runner outside, it's a lot easier for people to trip over/get torn/blow away.

I had an outdoor ceremony. I had an aisle runner to use initially but ended up not using it because when we put it down it just felt like it was gonna blow away

Of course it totally depends on your vibe, but I've seen some beautiful carpet aisle runners which would solve your problem without the potential worry of it flying away or you tripping.

First photo looks more classy/classic but I see a lot of Boho like the second photo.

I'm personally not a big fan of aisle runners at outdoor weddings. I agree with what Amber said though. It's not a bad idea to get one just in case you have to change to an indoor ceremony.

When I was planning my backyard wedding, I came across a lot of posts that said outdoor runners were a tripping hazard so I steered clear. I ended up buying flower petals from Costco. It was very beautiful, pretty cheap (10k petals for $120, I believe) and they were prompt in shipping it to you on your desired date.

Most of what I have heard about aisle runners at outdoor weddings is that they are major tripping hazards, especially when placed over grass.

Our ceremony is outdoors, on grass, and we are forgoing the runner because there's no point in adding an expense for something that might end up just being dangerous anyway.

That seems to be the general consensus. I can’t think of a good way to mark the aisle without it being dangerous or wasteful so we probably won’t have anything. I’m really hoping the weather is nice enough to have it outdoors

You can border your aisle with something that isn't a tripping hazard but it kinda feels unnecessary to me. Generally the chairs all lined up make the aisle pretty obvious!

I think that’s what we’re gonna go with
