Airbrush worth it?

Asia, on July 19, 2016 at 2:23 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

Is it better to do my own makeup or have it done proffesionally, also is airbrushed makeup really better? Never used it before, but I do want my skin to look good in pictures.

If you're comfortable with doing your own makeup you certainly can. I'm not at all confident that makeup I did myself would look good and photograph well so I'll be hiring a MUA. I've never used airbrush so I can't comment on that.

Airbrush will last all day it's sweat and tear proof--or at least that's what I've read.

Stick around, change your avatar so you don't blend in with all the spam that pops up at night and you'll get a lot more responses, there are girls here who've used it and others who are experienced with it and knowledgeable about it.

I really like the way the airbrush makeup looks in photos! I've had it done twice for weddings. It's definitely an added expense, so if you're comfortable doing your own makeup, go for it! If you want to treat yourself have it done Smiley smile

Airbrush is amazing, and will last all day like PP's have said. I don;t feel comfortable doing my own make-up, so I hired someone who will be doing airbrush.

I love airbrush and used it for the engagement photos, it stayed on all day and looked flawless.

I plan on using it again for a gala dinner this year and will have my MUA use it at the wedding.

I think having a MUA would take some of the pressure off of you. There are a lot of packages out there to accommodate you and your wedding party.

I love it when my brides go the airbrushed route! It looks both natural and flawless.

I've been bouncing back and forth between airbrush and doing it myself! Such a hard decision! I have a feeling that I won't like what another person does in my face, I'm so picky!

The airbrush is tear proof but your mascara/eyeliner won't be airbrush and will act like any other. I loved when I did airbrush and because it's a million degrees here will be using it for my wedding.

    Pay for a professional.

Air Brush isn't significantly better than traditional foundation. I've gone through an hour of real hard time cardio and my traditional make up stays put. (this is gig make up- for performance- not going to the office).

If air brush is the same cost- feel free to go ahead- but I certainly would not pay extra for it.

Airbrush is amazing. I've had it done for previous weddings where I've been a BM. I'm definitely doing it for the wedding.

I had a trial with airbrush that was really good and lasted all day, then had another trial with regular foundation/powder that was just as good and also lasted all day long. It's personal preference I guess. Either way, make sure you use a good setting spray like Urban Decay all nighter or something similar.

Personally I don't love the finish and coverage of airbrush and wouldn't pay extra for it. If your MUA is using combo of face primer, good foundation, setting powder and finishing spray, you will be set with traditional makeup staying put. But it is all up to personal preference!!

I didn't. My MUA recommended against it for me. I think she said it can streak? I would talk to your MUA about the pros and cons based on your skin, and your wedding look.

If you buy yourself a really good high end foundation, you could definitely do it yourself if you have the skill set. I'll probably do my own, just to keep it simple. I'm also doing a friend's makeup for her wedding. We did the trial run last night and it looked great except for some minor tweaks!

My MUA also doesn't recommend airbrush if you have oily skin - she said it can settle into creases and fine lines. I'm going to trust her and go the traditional make-up route most likely, plus it'll save some money.

MUA=MakeUpArtist Smiley smile And I realized that I neglected answering one of your initial questions! If you have the budget, having somebody do your makeup that day is absolutely worth it!!

My MUA also recommended against airbrush. In her opinion, it made people look too flat. I have tested it and hated the way it felt on my face. I would say, give it a try, but definitely test run before your wedding.
