Airbrush or regular makeup for bridal?

love_andmarriage, on August 25, 2017 at 10:05 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

Hi all.. I have my bridal trial in 1 month (my wedding is 1 yr away, but places book up fast). The salon offers both airbrush & regular makeup. I am not sure which one to get for the first trial, and was thinking of having 1 done on me & the other on my mom for the trial so we can compare. Do you think I should do this, or do 2 diff trials and decide then?

I was also thinking of doing airbrush for myself on my wedding day & regular makeup on the bridesmaids (to save money, mostly). I will be picking up the tab for my ladies' hair and makeup.

What are your thoughts on airbrush vs regular makeup for weddings? Pics?

I had airbrush done as a bridesmaid and loved it! I had it done around 10 am and it still looked perfect by the end of the night. I plan on getting airbrush done for my wedding too. It holds up nicer I think and I don't have to worry about it caking.

I just got airbrushing done for the first time at my bridal trial last week! I loved it! I definitely recommend it, at least for yourself.

I did airbrush as a bridesmaid for a wedding. Warning: The makeup artist did advise one of my friends to entirely shave her face before so that the little peach fuzz did not collect too much of the product. Not sure that's necessary or what kind of long term implications that has but just be warned.

I'm no expert but I would do the two trials yourself.

I did a trial for each type to see which I liked better. It was airbrush, hands down. It didn't feel oily or heavy, and it stayed flawless through yard work and farm chores.

I am doing airbrush for the wedding because I know I will sweat and cry so it needs to stay put. Although I don't love my MUA the airbrush foundation feels so light compared to traditional foundation.

Everyone raves about airbrush but it's seriously hit or miss. Though it works for most skin types, if you have dry skin or fairly heavy lines, I would advise against doing airbrush as it can accentuate dry patches and lines.

If you're really on the fence, get a trial with airbrush and see how that works for you, then understand if you don't like it, most MUA's can easily switch to a good primer/normal foundation combo the day of instead of having to do a re-trial for traditional makeup.

I had airbrush done for my wedding and I really loved it!! My mom also had airbrush done. I don't think comparing your faces will work, since (I'm assuming) your mom is significantly older than you, and older skin with wrinkles and sun spots is going to have really different needs than younger skin.

I was really happy with my choices for airbrush! I wear a full face of makeup every day and am pretty oily, I have to blot multiple times a day, and by the end of the day it can look pretty rough. On my wedding day the airbrush makeup stayed put, didn't rub off at all, didn't need any touch-ups... I didn't even need to blot!! And I had an outside ceremony in July, and danced the night away at my reception. Highly recommend! My mom also really liked her airbrush, it didn't crease up at all.

I did airbrush for my trial at 8:30 in the morning (same day as my bridal shower) and it stay put all day, outside in the 80 degree weather by the ocean. If you plan on having an outdoor wedding, airbrush is the way to go for sure.

Soooo... I have a sorta funny story. I purchased an airbrush especially for the wedding. I practiced with it and surprised FH one night with my face done with the airbrush. He loved it!

The next day I went back to my regular makeup and that evening he said "wow!... that new makeup is looking so awesome! It's even better today!"

LOL!...I think I might put the airbrush on eBay.

Airbrush always looks so amazing on everyone other than me. I have dry skin and peach fuzz so I think I'm going to skip airbrush. My Double Wear does me just fine as of now and I'm sure a pro MUA will blow my mind LOL! If you decide to do airbrush just make sure to have a trial done so you know how it wears on your skin!

A lot depends on the skill of the MUA. If you're trying to save money, why do 2 trials? I think you're over thinking it.

I did the airbrush and it stayed on perfectly from 9:30am until I took it off at 11pm. I bought the lipstick from my MUA and didn't use it once. I was having too much fun to run to the bathroom for touch ups.

I tried airbrush on my trial and it didn't work for me. I have a combination skin. It was cakey on certain areas for me.

I tried airbrush for my engagement photo shoot. I didn't like it and I felt a bit orangey and my pores/lines were more noticeable. If you're worried about sweating and lasting power then go with airbrush. It should be in the 60/70s for my wedding, so I'm going with traditional.
