Airbrush makeup opinions?

Jaymie, on August 30, 2016 at 5:37 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

Who has gotten airbrush makeup before? I'm both getting married and a bridesmaid in a wedding next summer and I've never gotten my makeup done professionally before. So some advice and pros and cons on both air brush or regular would be great! Thanks!

My sister (MOH) is a professional stylist and make up artist, and is dong airbrush for my wedding. We did the trial run a couple of weeks ago:

Pro - even the morning after my bachelorette party, I still looked amazing

Con - Gotta REALLY scrub to get it off (exfoliating face wash is your friend here)

Pro - it looked flawless, with perfect contouring and highlighting

Con - it felt a little cakey and stiff until I got used to it.

Pro - It didn't make my skin breakout (most things do!)

Overall, I am all for airbrush makeup done by a professional. Not something I would dare try to do myself.

LOVE IT. I have had it done twice (as a bridesmaid and for my own wedding) and wish I could look that good all the time. I just love how you get full coverage with a Super-thin layer of makeup. But I would only have it done by a professional! I can imagine it could look really wonky if done by someone who didn't know what to do.

Only con I can think of is that it's more expensive. Some wedding makeup artists will bake it into their prices, but most that I priced out added an extra $20-40 per person for airbrush.

I did! I was VERY happy with it. I have combination skin but on my T-zone it is VERY oily. Like seriously an oil slick. I use mattifying/anti-shine primer, powder foundation (NOT liquid) and a setting spray, and still I have to use a mattifying powder or blot my face multiple times a day. Honestly, I have to do that even when I don't have any makeup on! The oily skin also makes it hard for my makeup to stick all day, even with the primer and setting spray. I did not have to powder my face ONCE during my wedding day. It was fantastic! The makeup will also not come off on your hands, on your dress, on people when you hug them, etc. The only downside is the price! Its more expensive than traditional makeup.

I did it for my makeup trial and plan to do it for the wedding. I have a professional MUA and she suggested it given I have a very rosy complexion. I swear, my face was so smooth and flawless looking after she applied it, it was crazy! She is also doing my mom's makeup and she has issues with age/sun spots; it really helped minimize the appearance of those as well. I agree, it did feel a little cakey at first, but I got used to it or it settled in a bit after a while and I didn't notice it. I have my trial in the early afternoon and it easily lasted all night. I would say if you can do a trial for your own wedding makeup, I highly recommend it.

Love it! I have oily skin, so will definitely be having it done on the wedding day.

My MUA is using airbrush for me and my bridesmaids. It definitely lasts all day and, like everyone said, it doesn't rub off, which is exactly what I need for the long day (starting 6 AM with makeup, reception ends at 9 PM). It is more pricey though.
