Airbrush makeup for oily skin?

Taylor, on August 18, 2016 at 9:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

Let me try to describe my skin as best as I can: I have oily skin, that's also sensitive and acne-prone (I know, I hit the jackpot!). I don't have scarring or anything like that, but a suuuuper slight redness along my nose and cheeks from Rosacea (but this is usually covered with most foundations).

My question here is, should I just go with traditional makeup, or with airbrush? Does anyone have similar skin to me? Because of my oiliness, I'm worried about looking like a cake face on my big day!

I'm in the same Boat as you lol I'm having airbrush for my wedding because it's dry and sits on top of your skin (instead of in your pores) and it last long

I was told by my MUA that airbrush can tend to settle in lines with airbrush, and can make you look shinier, if you have oily skin. She does both but recommends traditional make up for oily skin.

My friend who got married last year tried air brush she didn't like it because it didn't have full coverage. Looked like a veil of makeup over her face. She didn't mention having problems with having and oily face. I would find make up that reduces that and get finishing powder if you use regular make up. Sometimes using primer and setting spray can help reduce the oil on your face

My mua sels motives makeup and that's what she used and honestly it was the best stuff ever. Normally I break out a little from makeup but this stuff did nothing to my face and it lasted pretty well through sleep to.

Eta to my other comment: I have very oily skin, like I can scrape it off with my nail bad. Look and see if you have consultants in your area that will do a trial on you.

I am the shiniest person on earth. However, I didn't feel like I needed to blot, apply powder, or anything ALL DAY! Definitely get an airbrush trial!

I think it depends on what make up your MUA uses. I also have oily but dry skin. I know sounds weird. But she has a silicon based airbrush make up that helps with shine Smiley smile Might be worth asking your MUA.

Air brush isn't significantly better than traditional make up.

Any MUA who tells you that is trying to upsell you on air brush.

A good MUA can make traditional seamless and flawless.

Air brush can settle into fine lines- really it comes down to price and what YOU want because honestly there is little to no difference between good traditional and airbrush.

So, I did airbrush for prom back in the day. I don't even have oily skin and my skin felt really gross after wearing it all night. A couple weeks after that, I went to another HS's prom and had traditional makeup, and it stayed up fine all night long. I think it depends on your specific skin, so just check out trials!

It depends on the skill of your MUA, what foundation they uses for traditional/airbrush makeup, and temperature/humidity on your wedding day. Have a trial and decide.

Hey ladies, I see this thread was over a year ago. Just curious if any of you have gotten married since and did airbrush and what you thought? Thanks!

I'm wondering too... oily skin here with some pores.

I would almost prefer to use traditional so that I could wear it beforehand and make sure I like the product, compare products, etc., as opposed to airbrush where I could only afford one trial, two tops.

I actually bought an airbrush kit and have been doing it myself... as far as oily goes, I too have oily skin, and it's the same. However, the airbrush looks way more natural, and a LOT less cakey. It's also WATER based, so it doesn't annoy my skin or make things worse.

I was using Urban Decay Naked All Nighter foundation for oily skin (traditional make up), and stuck with the Urban Decay line for the longest time (before that was MAC and talk about oil no matter what you did)

For the airbrush make up I did a LOT of research and chose the art of air line, along with the equipment. It's made a world of a difference to me. What also helps with the oil, is pushing baby powder on your problem spots after the make up is dry (baby powder absorbs dirt and oil).

Price wise, you could buy your own airbrush kit for the cost of a trial makeup. It's not nearly as bad as people think.

I know this thread is old, I just thought I'd give my two cents in case someone came across it.
