Airbnb?

Does anyone know anyone who has had an airbnb wedding? How did it go? Was there a DJ or did they use spotify?

I think Airbnb is cracking down on using their places as venues for large parties now unfortunately. I think the concern is also noise levels since they are homes in a residential area

What the pp said was correct. Usually Airbnb will not let you use their venue for a wedding. When my fiance and I were looking for a venue to have a small elopement no party I reached out to the owners and they would be fine with using their backyard just for a little ceremony and that was it. I would suggest look around your area because I know in my area there are some houses that are businesses that are made for weddings. Like you could rent on a state or a really big house but the place needs to be established for that. You can always ask the owner but I believe it's an Airbnb policy to not have party houses.

Airbnb no longer allows events in their rentals after a recent shooting.

I’ve also noticed that AIrBNB is doing what most said previously. They are cracking down and you need to have event insurance.

Have you thought about doing the same with a B&B? We looked into it last year when we thought we were gonna get married in Maine.

I rented my home through VRBO, however we had to tell them it was an event and had to get event insurance. They also charged us some extra on our refundable security deposit.

Yeah, they are. Which is why I send each of them a message individually and ask. I've had maybe one out of every ten people say yes. But then like you said some dont allow djs or loud music. Some dont let you see the place before you book, etc etc.

It is important to realize that even if you find a property owner who is willing to let you plan an event on their property, there may be local laws and/or regulations of homeowners' associations, etc., that prohibit parties at short-term rental properties. If that's the case, regardless of the agreement you have with the property owner/manager, the local police can shut your event down -- especially if neighbors complain about noise, parking, etc. Just be thorough in doing your research about any option you're considering. There was a post in the past year from a bride who had everything lined up, with knowledge and approval of the property owner, but just a couple weeks before her scheduled wedding she lost use of the property after the owner got in trouble with local authorities for renting the property for uses that were against local laws. (Police had been called to shut down someone else's party/wedding on the same property, and the owner was forced to cancel all future reservations.) She had no recourse and was left scrambling to find another location. Good luck, but be careful!

I’m having this problem too. I found a gorgeous Airbnb that would be perfect, it’s everything I want and it is in a more farm/residential area so very quiet out there. I asked about weddings and she’s had them in the past but I’m still skeptical about noise. There is a church parking lot around the corner that we got approved to use for parking and just shuttle people to the house. But man, I’m scared it might get shut down, due to noise or what if too many people show up and the owner gets upset? I think I’m still going through with it, I am planning to ask the homeowner some additional questions and confirm it will be alright before I put a down payment on. But yeah, scary business.

Girl you could even ask the neighbors! Or ask the homeowner if they could introduce you to the neighbors. Seems like you're doing everything right so far. Seems like the church is okay with it too. You could even go to the church one day and talk to some people. I don't know who you would call, the sheriff's department or the city where you live and ask what the noise ordinance is and explain your situation. The problem around here is that everyone is so close together. And most of the houses are right on the canal. So like you, I'm extremely nervous about that. What we're probably going to do is use a venue and then get an airbnb just to stay at for the weekend so we can still have a small party with close out of town friends and not have to worry about the noise, neighbors, etc. Because yeah...that would be HORRIBLE. But I think if you do all of those things you'll be fine. How many people are you having there?
I found a couple that would have been perfect, the owners even gave me a reasonable price for 4 days...but then airbnb tacks on like $1,500 and it became too expensive. 😫 so disappointed. Anyway it sounds like your wedding will be a blast! I would LOVE a ranch/farm style airbnb that we could all stay at...that would be a dream. But looks like my dreams are going to have to change lol
