Air bnb rentals

Alyssa, on January 17, 2022 at 10:46 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 7
Hello, my fiancé and I just recently got engaged in December. We are looking at air bnb rentals in Florida to rent out for the weekend for our wedding. Any suggestions on places to rent out ?! Thank you

Do you mean for the wedding? Or just for you to stay in? For the wedding, I’d be cautious and very upfront as Airbnb has a lot of restrictions about gatherings being allowed. I’d also get a separate contract from the owner for the use of the property for an event so that they can’t cancel close to the wedding. Airbnb allows hosts to cancel much closer to the reservation than I’d be comfortable with for a wedding.

Other than those things, do you have an area in Florida you want to be in?

I did not know that, that is good to know. Yes, for the wedding. Most of my family/ friends would be coming from PA. I was thinking Tampa, fort Myers, Orlando area.

Air Bnb no longer allows gatherings of more than 16 people due to some throwing huge parties that got out of control.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love AirBnb, but, I don't suggest using them as a venue. There's too many things that could happen simply by accident that you would be responsible for. Plus as mentioned, they no longer allow it because people were taking advantage of renting a home and turning it into a massive raging party house. While many people still do it, despite it no longer being part of the allowed uses of an AirBnB, it could potentially get you banned from ever using the site again.

On top of what Sarah said about cancellations, there also is no contingency if something at the place goes wrong - for instance, my parents just stayed at one over Christmas while visiting me and we got the worst rain in December in a decade. There was a leak in the roof and it leaked down into the electrical panel at the property and luckily, my dad knew to shut the grid down and call the owner right away. He was thankfully, able to get an electrician out that day but that's not always the case. I've had problems where I've been contacted 2 days prior to my arrival because the place is no longer available due to a maintenance problem and have been moved. Which is fine when its just a couple of you on vacation but it would have been a nightmare if it was a wedding.

I agree with the others. Airbnb isn't a good idea for a venue for a wedding. I don't think they allow it anymore anyway, and there is too much that could go wrong.

There are a bunch of places in the keys set up for this! Google “Florida keys wedding house rental.” This way you don’t have to worry about Airbnb canceling on you, etc. but you still get the house party experience.
