Age of Moh?

Lynne, on June 11, 2019 at 10:36 AM Posted in Planning 0 13
So, my 18 year old daughter is my MOH. I have heard it should be someone that's older to host a bachelorette party (even though I don't want one). But, my daughter really wants to do it, and I do have a cousin and very close friend thst are bridesmaids, they think it's sweet that my daughter is my MOH.

Your maid of honor does not have to throw you parties.

I agree with Catlyn; my daughter, who is 19 will be my MOH and there are no hard and fast rules. When people married years ago, bachelorette parties were unheard of. Too much societal pressure and wedding industry jamming these concepts down our throats. Just my 2 cents.

My sister, who is 16, is my MOH! My bridesmaids all understand and have decided to do the planning, it is more of an honorary role!

Your MOH can be whoever you want it to be. People don’t always have bachelorette parties anyway and if you have other friends and family they can plan that. The MOH role should be the person YOU want to stand beside you on your special day. Good luck

It would be sweet if she's MOH. Someone else can throw you a more age appropriate bachelorette

I would just have your daughter plan it, but maybe have someone help her that is a little older. Typically the planner has to book things or put credit cards down and I assume an 18 year old would have a hard time. If you aren't going to a bar/strip club, she can totally plan it.

I think it's very sweet she offered. Maybe you'd be okay with a lunch or brunch instead of a full on bachelorette? I think she wants to do something and you could find a more reasonable activity for her to plan.
Maybe a spa day or paint night?

My MOH is my 17 year old cousin. My best friend is planning the Bachelorette party. I said I didn't want one either and wanted my MOH included. I think we're doing a low key Lake House type situation. It's so cute your daughter wants to help. She can plan it and an older bridesmaid can get the ball rolling and organize?

I was 19 when I was my sister's MOH. The other bridesmaids were way more experienced than me when it came to being in bridal parties (my sister is 8 years older than me, so they all had at least 4 weddings under their belts at the time). The bridal shower was catered, and her bachelorette party was a joint planned outing amongst all the bridesmaids, so it wasn't all on me. The bachelorette party was age-appropriate for me too - we took her on a shopping spree/scavanger hunt through a mall, then a restaurant. It was very fun!

My sister was 19 when I got married the first time and she was my MOH. My mom threw me my bachelorette party so it wasn't an issue. And bachelorette parties don't always have to involve alcohol or renting limos or anything outrageous if you don't want any of that. This time around I'm doing something very small and going to the spa. To each their own.

My 18 y/o is also my MOH, along with my 16 y/o as my bridesmaids. My jr. bridesmaids is my FH 11 y/o niece. I’m not having a bachelorette party. We’re actually going out for a ladies day to the spa.
