Agate Placecard Problems

LosForTheWin, on May 25, 2017 at 1:06 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 16

So I kept going back and forth on placecards. I knew if I wanted to do them, I would want to use agate slices. They were a little on the pricey side and it took me awhile, but I finally decided to do them. My calligrapher does great work and I'm completely happy with how they turned out. Because I want people to be able to keep them, I asked that she not write "Table _" on them. Now I'm wondering if any of the lovely minds on WW have any suggestions on how to convey seating since I chose to forgo the simpler route. How would you present these as part of a seating chart?

Could you do them by color? Green is table 1, pink table 2, navy table 3, etc

I would put them out on a table by the entrance like you would escort cards but group them by table the way you would write a seating chart. I would also probably do a sticky label with the table number on the back of each slice in case things get moved around.

@Kate I did think of that, and perhaps it will be what I do, but I was afraid that may add more expenses.

@Victoria that's a great suggestion, but we already have them completed in all Navy! I didn't even think of doing varying colors.

@StPaulGal I was leaning toward this, but hadn't thought of the sticker. That's an awesome idea!

These are super cute! I would put them maybe in the center of the table and just use regular seating cards? Or do like above poster said and do them by color? Can you write the table number maybe on the back?

Not sure if this is what you meant, but my friend clipped holes in paper wrote the name and table number on them, and then tied those to a key as the escort card. Maybe you can do something similar, just with the table number and tie it around the stone. That can be easily removed and then all your guests have a pretty awesome favor to use elsewhere that won't have "table #" on it.

What do you all think of doing something like this? https://www.etsy.com/listing/267195781/wedding-seating-chart-kraft-wedding

I could either purchase these or make something like them myself and frame them or use little stands to keep them upright, and then use the agate like escort cards!

Ooh attaching tags might be a good idea too if I can find a way to keep them on! Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions.

I was going to say to attach a sticker, but it seems PPs gave the suggestion first. For the record, those look really nice!

    Looooove these!!

Personally I'd vote to have these as place cards because they're so gorgeous! You could do a seating chart to show table assignments for pretty cheap.

Here's an example of how someone did an escort card display if you want to use them to show table assignments (and an inspo pic with the agate as a place card because it's just too pretty):

I'm trying to do agate place cards for my June 2023 wedding. Has anyone come across an affordable supplier for the agate slices themselves? I have around 200 I'm going to make.

Love the agate slice idea! Mybe have a seating chart displayed where guests enter and then remind the guess to display their agate slice ar their table.
