Afterparty in Lancaster, pa

Mary Kate, on June 2, 2018 at 12:09 PM Posted in Pennsylvania Planning 0 6

Question for people who know Lancaster PA well, or are getting married in the area: I have been wondering about where to direct guests to for an after-party. Our wedding reception is ending relatively early (9:00 pm), so we could just go back to the hotel bar after, but I'm considering maybe going somewhere fun in Lancaster city after the reception is done. I'm not sure however what would be best.....what bar might have great drinks and beers, but still not overwhelmingly packed on a Saturday night. I was considering Springhouse Brewery on Hazel Street, but it may be that one of the bars on King Street is better since springhouse is only open until 12 am. Any recommendations? Should I book a place for an afterparty, or just ask people to show up? (I have no idea on the numbers, for who will elect to attend an afterparty).

Thank you in advance for any advice!

Hi Mary Kate! I would actually begin by trying to get a headcount for the afterparty by contacting your guests to see who would be interested in attending. This would allow you more flexibility towards planning. Once you receive a potential headcount, then you can reserve a table or possibly find a location that can fit the expected guests. I just think it would allow more ease to find out who plans to attend. Good luck!

What hotel are y'all staying at? The Marriott has a nice bar/lounge area, and I haven't seen it too busy on the weekends. Granted I've only been there twice, and for maybe an hour.
When is the wedding? Knowing around which time of year will help, as with it coming to summer now, most bars and stuff will be kind of packed on the weekends.

Ok I just went to your page and saw you're getting married in December. Bars and such will be slower that time of year, so I'm thinking any place you like or that's close to the reception site will be great. Or even the hotel lounge itself.
Marion Court might be a place to look as well.

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I could see about getting a headcount estimate; maybe put a poll on my website, if people will look for it.

Courtyard Marriott in Lancaster (not the one in the city) is where a lot of people will be staying; they do have a bar, and our other blocked hotel is not far away. So it would be a fine option for everyone to head to after. It's good to hear though that bars will be a little slower in December; I did not want to reserve a private space at a bar, if it could be avoided.

Hi Mary Kate! I'm getting married at Drumore Estate in Pequea, PA, right near Lancaster next August! I'm not sure what your expected headcount will be or if you have the extra budget for it, but if you're interested in renting out a space for a bunch of people, Annie Bailey's has an upstairs room and bar that is really nice. Sounds morbid, but we rented it out for a wake, and it was actually great! Otherwise, their regular bar is usually full and a lot of fun. Speaking of hotels, do you have any information for me regarding hotel blocks? lol. That's one thing I've been wondering about but too soon to book yet. Did you get any good discounts anywhere?

    Hi Carly,
Thanks for the input about considering Annie Bailey's. As far as hotel blocks, I went with the Hampton Inn and Courtyard Marriott and I thought their blocked rates were reasonable. Having a bar at the Marriott as an option for after the reception was a plus too! The locations of the particular hotels I selected would probably be too far from your venue, but maybe look around to see if there is a Courtyard down near Pequea. Good luck!
