Afternoon/lunch/brunch/between meals receptions?

Finally mrs.jkr, on May 15, 2015 at 5:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 16

I feel like the majority of people have night weddings (which is cool! Love ta par-tay!). I was just wanting to see who else is not doing that. Our ceremony is at 11:30 with lunch served between 12-12:30 (until lunch is done... Probably only 45 mins) and then fun after (dancing and lawn games). I love nighttime weddings, but I had a small budget and fh and I wanted to have a romantic private dinner afterwards Smiley smile

We're having a brunch reception. Ceremony at 11:00 am, followed by brunch and ending at 4:00 pm. I'm definitely an early bird rather than a night owl, and I love boozy brunch...so I'm excited about it!

I really wanted to do a brunch, but chose to do an evening affair because we have so many out of town guest. I love brunch though.

We are having a mid-afternoon wedding. Ceremony starts at 2 PM. I know a lot of people suggest not having a full meal at this time of day but we are doing a buffet reception and of course having a DJ. The people I know are up for a meal at any time of the day! Smiley smile

ETA: My family members are always some of the first people on the dance floor. They are the type that will drag you, laughingly, on the dance floor if their favorite song comes on.

Ours is at 2:00, which is standard for a Catholic wedding on a Saturday. We'll end up doing apps and an early dinner though. I've been to an 11:00 am wedding before though that had brunch after and it was delicious. Just as a warning though (and you know your people obviously so this might not be the case), but most people don't end up dancing as much when it's during the day. Lawn games would be fun though!

I am also doing an afternoon wedding. My ceremony is at 1:00, the reception will start around 2:00. I am planning on doing a grand exit at around 6:00. I was thinking of doing finger foods since my reception is in between meals, however I chose to do a seated lunch instead since it was really affordable to add beans and rice to our taco catering and I liked the idea of everyone sitting down to eat. For alcohol we will be serving chardonnay, sangria, a Pinot and three different selects of beers. I am doing a cocktail hour with a folk singer doing background music and then a Mariachi band will serenade tables at lunch. I am going to play dancing music after lunch, I'm not sure how many people will actually dance and we aren't going to be playing night club music. I am totally happy with my choice to do a daytime wedding.

We'll have the ceremony around noon and will most likely serve brunch after. We can only serve beer and wine at our venue which works perfectly for us. We will have dancing after, but just in the daylight, which will also save us the money for the uplighting.

We're having a brunch reception. 11:30 ceremony, reception 12-4 with a DJ and dancing. My friends and family are dancers, nobody minds if it's daytime.

We are having a lunch reception, the ceremony begins at 12pm and lunch will be served around 1:45. Since, we chose to get married on a Sunday, we didn't want to do things too late and having it earlier in the day saves money on the meals. Smiley smile

Our ceremony is at 11:30, lunch at 1-4:00. With champagne early on, we are planning to have a dry wedding for the most part so I figure ppl will start leaving around 3, gone by 4.

Yeah, money seems to be a good motivation. I got a $3000 venue for $400 because it was during the day

This sounds like an awesome idea, ladies. Maybe I'm just a morning person, but I'd love to go to a brunch wedding!

I wanted to do a brunch reception, but my hubby is against it. He said it's too early (12:00) so instead we're gonna do 2pm, I'm still undecided bout the menu though.

Ours is a cocktail party from 1 til 5. People will be greeted with mimosas and the ceremony is at 1:15 followed by many rounds of apps and some stations. My people are dancers too so I'm thinking dancing 2:30 or 3 til 5.

Our date is historically pretty cold, and we're going to have to have our ceremony outside, so we're having it around 2 or 3 PM since that seems likely to be the warmest part of the day (and the idea of my fiancee getting up before noon is pretty funny). We don't have space to serve a sit-down dinner inside, so instead we're probably going to do the kind of fancy finger food we'd bring to a picnic, plus board games and socializing until 5-ish.
