After the Ceremony, how should the MC introduce us?

DA, on May 12, 2016 at 8:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Hi WW,

I'm a little conflicted about this. I am not changing my name after we are married and my FH agrees that I shouldn't. We do not want to be introduced as Mr. & Mrs. Lastname, so how should the Emcee introduce us?

We were thinking maybe something like: "Introducing the newly wedded couple, Jill and Jack?" (not our real names)..

Anybody have any suggestions?

"Introducing the newest Mr and Mrs!"

You're still a Mrs even if you don't take his name

Yes, the Mrs honorific is appropriate over Miss, if desired. It's preference, really. But I think the OP's question is about separating herself from "Mrs. John Doe" in favor of her own last name.

Where a [heterosexual] couple is married and carries different last names the proper address is to introduce the wife first then the husband as "Jane Doe and her husband Jimmy Jack," without honorifics.

Thanks everyone, for your suggestions, but I think I really like what the Rev. Patrick said. That is exactly what I was looking for Smiley smile

If you want your guests to know that you're not changing your last name:

"...for the first time as husband and wife, Jack Jones and Jill Smith!"

    or

"...the newlyweds, Jill Smith and Jack Jones!"
