Due to Covid at the beginning of the year we decided to elope. Wasn’t what either of us wanted but it is what it is and that’s that. Multiple family members are asking if we will be having an “after party” or reception to celebrate with us because they didn’t get too. I never really thought about it, I kind of thought it was a little weird or strange to have another celebration. Anyone have one? How did it turn out? What did you do?

We didn't elope, but we had a minimony with about 35 guests and our upcoming reception is next Saturday 10/2. Obviously it hasn't happened yet, but everyone is excited for it and was pretty much asking us the same thing.

Awesome!! The only thing with ours is we never thought about having an after party and must places I’m assuming are booked already so it wouldn’t be til next year if we did 😓

Ours is 4 days shy of a year. We were married 10/6/20 and our reception is 10/2/21, that's perfectly fine!

Yes pretty much everything! DJ, photographer, videographer, sweetheart table, first dance, wedding party (we didn't use them for our minimony), pretty much a full do over minus the ceremony!

We recently canceled the wedding plans and decided to elope 10/31/21 with just the 2 of us (I’m so excited that we changed plans). Next year we’ll have a big 1st anniversary celebration including all of our former guests. But we’ve also decided to have annual celebrations due to our wedding date (and the craziness of our covid wedding planning love story) 🥰

Lots of people have done this, and I don't think it's strange or weird. But I would definitely make sure you and your husband REALLY want to do this before you plan and pay for it. Don't do it just because other people are asking about it. It's perfectly acceptable not to have a celebration of marriage after an elopement.
