Affordable wedding venues in Chicago

Nykole, on November 14, 2014 at 4:13 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 16

My fiancé and I are having our wedding in Illinois. Our wedding budget is about $20,000 but we are having a hard time finding an affordable wedding venue. It seems like we find a place but then it's like $50 per person for food on top of that. It doesn't have to be in the city. We are pretty open about location. We need a place that has a ceremony space but preferably inside for both because of the uncertainty of Chicago weather. Maybe even a place that let's you cater your own food as an option. We liked some barn style venues like the county line orchard but the prices were crazy! If anyone has any opinions or advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I don't know their prices but I remember looking up Hoosier barn farm for someone else on here one time. It's really pretty and I think you bring your own food.

It's in the suburbs though, definitely not in city limits.

Have you tried using the vendors tab on here? Try googling nonwedding places and you might have more luck. I can't imagine not being able to find a venue with that budget.

Mr and mrs chavin, you would be surprised. My friend actually just decided to not get married in Chicago (they're going to deleware instead) because they couldn't find a venue for their 20k budget.

We are getting married in NC because of how expensive they were. We almost went Orchard Ridge Farms but it was kind of in the middle of nowhere with not a lot of hotels for out of town guests, and kinda far from the airport.

How many people are you looking to have and then I can give you some better recommendations?

Check the banquet halls near the airport. They all start at about 45$ per head.

I literally just did the Chicago venue search so u know there are a lot of banquet halls available.

I know you'd like a barn--I don't know any of those butttt check the Gardens of Woodstock for a rustic wedding look Smiley smile

My budget is only half of yours and I'm having an extremely difficult time with it. I don't mind a diy wedding but I at least need a venue...

I've looked into Astoria banquets in Buffalo Grove, Alpine banquets in Darien, the Seville in Streamwood those have all inclusive packages for pretty reasonable rates (well for me anyway since I'm having mine on a Friday) Also centre at North Park in Franklin Park. Hopefully you find something, good luck!

If anyone has anymore suggestions I'd like to know as well, I'm still looking. Smiley smile

Check on Cave la Cave in Des plaines and Meridian Banquets in rolling Meadows. They're both very pretty on the inside and have very reasonable prices. Also the Meadows Club in Rolling Meadows is under new management and are working with people on pricing because ra not quite remodeled yet.

There's also a banquet hall in Crystal Lake when is very very afforadable and not in a bad location at all. It's like $25 a head, I think?

White Deer Run country club in Vernon hills and the Arboretum Club in Buffalo Grove also are very reasonable.

I settled on Lehmann Mansion myself. So very happy to have found it!

It's d'andrea banquets. It's really close to a holiday inn with a shuttle. It's not amazing looking from the outside but the inside is simple and elegant and can easily be dressed up.

Thank you all very much for your suggestions! Will definitely look into these! Does anyone know of any that allow outside catering? We are just trying to make things as affordable as possible. It doesn't have to be a barn that's just the style we really like! Again than you all!

Hi Nykole! How many guests were you looking at? I'm doing my Sunday wedding at The Seville in Streamwood. I found out they have a minimum of I think 100 ppl but for $50/person, you can get just about every bell and whistle they offer, including a full catered meal, cake, sweet table, photo booth, centerpieces, uplighting, the list goes on and on. I am on a $15k budget and looked at venues til my eyes glazed that was the best deal I found.

The Mirage was my fav until I found the Seville, great reviews and good deals to be had. The connecting hotel is good too.

If you are looking for a barn, check out the Byron Colby Barn. It's far north suburbs, in Grayslake but completely adorable (and that's not my style but I had to admit it was beautiful.) my brother got married there and it was perfect, affordable, plus they could DIY a lot. White Deer Run in Vernon Hills is nice too. That is a golf course venue. My mother was married there. Also very affordable, nice views, great food, very pretty gold course atmosphere.

    Hope some of those help!

Edit- I seriously need to read better today. Just saw your guest comment Nykole. I'm a dork.

Hey Nykole! Also getting married in Chicago, also with a 20k budget, and having an outside caterer.

We are getting married at the Bartlett Hills Golf Club. Their package includes EVERYTHING except food and drinks (even servers, linens and centerpieces) and is under 4k. They also have great bar packages that won't break your budget at all.

Mary, the coordinator is awesome! Give her a call and tell her I sent you! She is an great person to work with, and you might find BHGC to be a really great fit for you!

Plus the just redid the inside too so it is nice and up to date! Let me know if you have any questions!
