Affordable wedding invitations, place cards...

P, on May 17, 2019 at 12:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Could anyone provide advice on affordable wedding invitations, place cards, and maybe even wedding favors? Every "affordable" site I visit seems to add up quickly.

I got my invites at Ann’s bridal bargains, that was as cheap as I could find, even after looking into printing my own. I’d recommend trying to only get invitations and rsvp bc adding detail cards really makes the price add up quickly. We got place cards from amazon and are just going to write our own! You can get them in sheets though that you can put through a printer

    Hello,

I got our invitations from Ann's bridal bargains which is affordable. As for place cards I used Avery templates to print my labels and escorts cards. On amazon you can type in Avery templates and they have tons you can buy. I brought ( Avery Place Cards, Laser & Inkjet Printers, 160 Printable Cards, 2 x 3.5 (5302), White ) from amazon. I went to avery.com and typed in all my guest names and printed it on the template. It was so easy, cost effective, and timeless.

I got all in one invitations on Minted $100 for 65 invites. (had a 15% off coupon from signing up for emails or something and ordering a sample kit, which was free).

We are homemaking chocolates and I bought wooden fridge magnets from Etsy with our names and date on it along with a cute little saying saying thank you for $80 for 100 of them.

I bought place cards at party city for I think $7 for 50 but am not using them now. I've also seen them at Michael's and Jo-Ann's, check their website and flyers for coupons they almost always have a 50% off a regular priced item.

As for STDs I am still shopping around. I dont like any on minted and Shutterflys seem a little pricey.

I got my invitations from Shutterfly during a 50% off sale, 90 invitations, details cards, and envelopes for $190. Not "cheap," but definitely reasonable.

I got our place cards from Michaels, it was $5 for 50 so I bought 3 packs (150 cards) for $15 total, and only ended up using 2 of them lol. You could definitely check out Michaels or Hobby Lobby for invitations too... they have very reasonably priced designs that you can buy and then you can print your own information onto them.

We got our invitations from Vistaprint during one of their many 50% off sales. We didn't do a while suite - we just did an invite and RSVP card directing our guests to our website so we saved money mailing them too as they were just the cost of a normal stamp. We also did online-only RSVP which worked out great and saved us some money there since we didn't have to stamp them too.

For our escort cards I already had a Cricut so I just bought cardstock and made them on there. I wanted a specific cutout to match our invites otherwise I would've used the Avery ones you can get at any office supply store.

My husband is from Pittsburgh so naturally we had a cookie table with well over 1000 cookies. For favors, we bought some tin tie bags, I made Thank You stickers for them on my Cricut, and we set them out for guests to fill with cookies. My uncle left with 6 bags!!! We didn't do anything else special for favors, and honestly, they're not necessary. If you do want to do a favor, cheap candies are the best. Anything that can't be eaten will probably get left behind.

Check out Oriental Trading's Marry Me site. They're always having sales and have some really cute, affordable ideas for decor, drinkware (we got personalized glass toasting flutes for $5!!!), and favors. And if you buy anything from them and they call you to take a survey, do it because they'll give you $10 off your next order!

Sometimes you have to wait for a good sale. I've been researching all of the online sources for invitations (Shutterfly, Minted, Ann's BB, VistaPrint, etc.). They are all pretty close in price, but what makes them really "affordable" is when they have a big sale. Like 50% off, or even 30% off makes a big difference. So now I'm putting together a suite that I love, and just saving it (in my cart) without checking out. Now I'm waiting for a sale. As soon as the good sale hits, I'll buy the stuff I have waiting in my cart.

It's hard but can be done! I have done a lot of research into this over the last few months, and finally have nailed down my strategy. All of my stationery & paper (except for STDs) is ivory and black (wedding colors are David's Bridal Sangria, ivory, black, and silver).
I'm using Basic Invite for save the dates, invites, RSVP cards, and reception cards. They always run a 15% off code on the website, but you get a 20% off code with any order placed (includes samples!).For thank you's, I searched online for something in ivory & black, since I didn't want to spend $150 on thank you's. I found some that coordinate perfectly! $35 for 120 thank you's, from Gartner Studios (sister brand of MaraMi, which sells at Target). For programs, I'm planning to use an Etsy seller who has $10 program templates that you customize yourself and send off to be printed. I'm planning to use FedEx.For place cards, I'll go to Hobby Lobby or Michael's ($4-5 for a 50-pack) and will label them myself.

I second Oriental trading! Or Amazon..

I used Canva for my invites and printed them with a 25% off coupon at FedEx. I got envelopes on Amazon.

You don't need favors! It's okay if you don't have them. Guests are hard to please and would rather not take home something trivial.
