Affordable venues in San Diego

Johana, on September 19, 2019 at 6:49 PM Posted in California Planning 1 12
Hello ladies,
I recently got engaged and are looking for affordable venues in the SoCal San Diego area. I’ve looked at a few in Temecula that I like but a bit pricey, not wanting to spend more than 10K for the whole wedding. I would rather take a 2-3 week honeymoon Smiley smile. I’m looking for an outdoor reception. Any suggestions from any brides?

If there is nothing there you like, Dream Beach Wedding in SD might be able to help you. We used them for our wedding on the beach.

Inexpensive gets tricky here in San Diego since it’s a popular place for weddings (Especially for an outdoor reception). Maybe you can try…

Uh oh! I tried to put them on different lines but somehow it converted it to the same line. Hopefully you can make out the different venues

There are lots of good hidden spots in San Diego county. I used to be a wedding planner for 10 years. But I stopped in 2016. So I don’t know all of the updated pricing, as it changes every year (also FH and I are getting married at a hotel in Las Vegas. So I haven’t even shopped around here in San Diego).

We are having our reception at the California Center for the Arts Escondido. They do the catering too and it includes the cake-from Cute Cakes, which is who I wanted to use in the first place! You get a discount on your room if you spend a certain amount on food and beverage or hold your rehearsal dinner there too. They have different courtyards and ballrooms. One of my favorite touches is that we can have our picture and just married on the marquee out front! They can do an appetizer reception a buffet or a sit down dinner. They can email you a Package with the basic prices

If you’re open to it, I’d check out renting an air b & b and have it in a beautiful home! I’ve stayed in multiple air b & b’s in San Diego, where the house owner had told me they’ve used the home for wedding events!

Marina Village - VERY reasonable. One of the top reasons they book out weekend after weekend, year after year, is they are BYOB. Which means you can go to costco and grab cases of wine and beer to save thousands. My friends had Pat and Oscars pizza, pasta, and salad delivered here for a wedding. Your options are limitless. It's got ocean views and lots of parking. *One thing to keep in mind is one of the biggest event spaces here is upstairs and they are not ADA compliant (at least they were not at my brothers wedding in 2012, not sure if they've updated). If you tour their options and need wheel chair or walker accessible areas be sure to note the different spaces that would work before falling in love with a room.

Riverwalk Golf Club - this place is pinterest perfect picturesque! If beautiful details is what you want, you need to tour here! Upgraded satin linens, charger plates, and premium chivari chairs are included! That is unheard of, you usually get basic linen and folding chairs in packages anywhere else. The top shelf liquor package is also very reasonable and the event manager is AMAZING. My fiance said to me "wow, this would be a really fancy wedding". Which is the only reason we didn't sign right then and there. Fancy isn't our vibe, but if it was this would be the cheapest place in town!

Sycuan Casino Resort (not Sycuan Golf Resort) - The Casino at Sycuan is new to events since theyve recently done a major expansion. This is where we are having our wedding. The F&B minimum for 5 hours, yes 5 hours, of reception space is only $1,500!! If you wanted to do a cake and cocktails only reception here you could easily get away with meeting their spending requirements and keeping your spending down. The manager is also very responsive and experienced. He came to Sycuan this year from the US Grant (another property owned by Sycuan) and ran weddings and events there for over a decade. They are new to weddings on this property but not new to the game. Its a great deal!
