Affordable hair and makeup in DC?

Erica, on March 2, 2016 at 10:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6

Gotten to the point of planing my June 2016 wedding in DC that I'm looking for hair/makeup artists. But I can't justify spending $200/person in my bridal party! They are paying for it on their own, but it still seems like a lot. Hair and makeup for other weddings i have been a part of have ave been 60 to 80 for each service (so 120 to 160 total).

A side note, I had airbrushed makeup at my sister-in-law's wedding and LOVED it.

Just looking for some recommendations from others who had positive experiences! If it matters, there would probably be 10 to 11 people needing hair and/or makeup — and we'd want a team to come to our hotel.

Thanks in advance! Can't wait to hear your stories.

Erica, depending on how far outside DC you're willing to go, my friend is a stylist at Michael Helene Salon Gallery in Sterling, VA. They're more affordable than some salons that I've seen. Check out their website; they have some pricing online, so you can judge for yourself.

Where in DC specifically are you looking/where is your hotel? You may find searching for someone further out in the suburbs who is willing to travel is cheaper in the end, even with travel fees. I'm located out in Frederick and the price difference is definitely significant.

We used Nena's Special Occasion Hair and Make-up. Did a good job, came to our location, very reasonable rates. https://m.facebook.com/NenasSpecialOccasionHairandMakeup

$150 to $200 per person , for both services is about right for quality work from busy professionals who leave the salon to come to you on your big day.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I'll check out what you've listed here and also look a bit further outside the city. I'll report back when I've found someone.
