Affordable but gorgeous dresses

Kelley, on March 30, 2018 at 5:17 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17
Hi lovely brides-

So I’m on the hunt for a gorgeous sparkly wedding dress that won’t break the bank since I simply can’t justify spending soooo much money on a dress I wear ONCE!! However when I mention this to most people they’re like OH there’s there’s GREAT site or boutique where they have dresses for less than A THOUSAND DOLLARS!!

guess we have different definitions of NOT BREAKING THE BANK lol...

anywho my overall dress budget alterations included is about $500...I’m willing to buy used and have searched sites like STILLWHITE and such but would LOVE to be able to shop in a boutique (even if it is consignment) and actually try my dress in person...

anyone know now of AFFORDABLE bridal boutiques in Atlanta GA???

Have you tried Amazon? It sounds crazy but a friend of mine found her dress there and it was exactly what she wanted without breaking the bank.

My dress is a prom dress and while I didn't choose a sparkly one, there were a LOT that feature all kinds of beading and sequins. I paid $600 and have yet to have it altered, but there are many that were under your budget - I just fell in love with the teal embroidery on mine.

Have you tried David's Bridal? When I went there, they had a ton of sparkly dresses for under $500. It actually made finding my dress a little more difficult, since I was avoiding sparkles lol

If your budget is under 500 including alterations I would look into prom dresses and add a belt and veil to look more bridal. I’ve heard alterations are a minimum of a few hundred dollars most of the time.

I would definitely suggest looking at davids bridal during there next 99$ sale. You can also google bridal consignment boutiques in your area. I almost went to one here in PA that is highly rated but ended up buying another dress before I could make an appointment.

Also look at Azazie or Cocomelody. Azazie just came out with a bridal line and while they don't have a shop they will ship you a sample for you to try on in home and then mail back for a set amount. I think the bridal price is 25$

Find a local bridal consignment shop. That's where I got my veil and they had a huge selection of dresses around $300

Try going to a trunk show or a sample sale. You can get beautiful high price tag dresses for less especially sample gowns.

You could truck Azazie. They have sample dresses they will mail for you to try on at home for $25. And they have an option to give them custom measurements when you order, which will save on alterations.

Have you checked out BHLDN? They have a store in Atlanta, but you can look at their stuff online. You would have to get any alterations done elsewhere, but the dresses arrive in like a week. And they have dresses below $500.

You can go the online consignment route and still try on new dresses. My friend just bought a used dress from someone that she had tried on at David's you just need the designer/model of the ones you like

Have you tried cocomelody? I got my dress from them and am in love with it more than I thought it would be. This is the one I got and after purchase and alterations I spent under $400

You really are looking for a dress that’s $100-$200, because alertations are not cheap and ‘sparkly’ isn’t cheap either. Start at David’s during a $99 sale.

I bought my dress at a liquidation sale. It was originally $2500 and I paid $300. It’s an option to look in to. There may be a store going out of business in your area. I’ve also seen some prom dresses that look perfect for a wedding.

I second BHLDN. I ended up blowing my budget on a more expensive dress elsewhere, but I did try on several dresses at their Atlanta shop and they have a good selection of many styles, at lots of price points. I remember one dress I really liked costing about $250. I didn’t feel like the dresses were very good quality, but I suppose if you’re just wearing it once it might not matter to you.
