Affordable Alternative Dessert Option

Sydney, on August 25, 2019 at 6:51 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 10
Hi All! My fiancé and I are not big cake people and are trying to find an alternative dessert for our big day. Since we are having a small wedding (70-80 people), we don't want to do a big desert bar with lots of options. We would like to have it plated if possible since we are already paying for the staff to do a plated dinner, but it is not a requirement. We considered pies or doughnuts, but they feel slightly overdone. We would love your recommendations as to any affordable unique desert options that might match our tuscan themed wedding in June. Thanks!

We are also having a small wedding, probably less than 50. We’re going to do a cupcake tower of sorts, with the top tier a small cake and then the bottom tiers having cupcakes, tiny key lime pies and chocolate covered strawberries. The guests can just help themselves.

Cupcakes are an option or you could ask your caterer to do a various small bite dessert tray

Went to a wedding where the bride asked all of the extended family members (aunts, grandmas, cousins) on her side to prepare a desert and drop it off at the house the day before the wedding.

She made a simple one tier cake with topper. And the desert table was full of all kinds of deserts...

Cookies, brownies, cupcakes, pies, even a couple cousins who couldn't bake bought candies and fudge and such. It was a Beautiful spread and was special.

The bride said that it was really awesome to get the family involved and it made them feel special and included.

I love the “donut cakes” on pinterest. Donuts are cheap and everyone loves them!

We aren’t big on cake either. But LOVE Nothing Bundt Cakes. So that’s what we’re doing. A two tier cake and a bunch of bite sized ones.

I initially wanted to get the mini cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes (not sure If you have one in your area) bc they are so tasty and very affordable. However after going to my best friends wedding earlier this month, she served them. I didn’t want her to feel as if we copied her so we changed to mini desserts. We will serve tiramisu and strawberry shortcake in mini glasses (shot glasses...I don’t know the technical term lol).

LOVE those! Our caterer does something similar but the desert options for the mini glasses are a little boring in my opinion. Love the stand used for this, looks great!

I love that attitude. Since so many people have different sweet tooth preferences, that's a great way to go for a small group.
