Advice

Caitlin, on March 2, 2021 at 7:25 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
We are having a night wedding so no formal dinner and I’m struggling with how to plan entrance and speeches for the reception without a head table. I know I can’t possibly be the only bride who has done this but the struggle is real. I don’t want it to be awkward and we just walk in and stand around! Lol do I have a head table even though my guests will be gathered around cocktail style tables? Any suggestions would be amazing!

You don't need a head table for those things. Lots of couples use a sweetheart table if there's a dinner. There should be tables and chairs for every guest or people will leave early. For a cocktail reception, it's common for the couple to stand as soon as they walk in. Talk to your coordinator and dj. What you are describing is very common.

Totally agree with Michelle- talk to your venue, DJ & photographer. That way everyone is on the same page.

Yes! Great idea I will discuss with them for sure! I just didn’t want the DJ to announce the wedding party and then me and my fiancé and us all have nowhere to walk to in the reception lol I considered a sweetheart table but didn’t know if it would be strange to have the wedding party standing around us for speeches

If you’re having a cocktail reception, your wedding party can “disappear” into the crowd and find their own high boys after they make their entrances. They don’t need to be next to you while speeches are made; you can have a sweetheart table with the speeches microphone set up next to it and the DJ can call up the MOH/best man when it’s their turn to give a speech.
