Advice on ordering flower girl dresses online?

Taylor, on June 13, 2018 at 2:13 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16
So I’m very weary about this and need some advice. I have two flower girls, my little cousin who is 9 and my FH little sister who is 8. My little cousin is with her mom a majority of the time and a lot of the time that she is with my uncle we have family events going on. Anyways, I’ve not had much time to take her to look at dresses. A couple weeks ago I went with my mom just to see what stores had good selections and a lot of the dresses they would have to order unless I paid more and most of the dresses were already going to be more than my bridesmaid dresses (they were generally all around $250). I went to a few stores and by the end of the day I was very discouraged. My mom looked around and sent me a couple sites that were more than half the price and all had really good reviews. That does scare me because I’m afraid of fitting and not looking right but it seems my best chance to have them come in on time and save lots of money. Me and my fiancé are buying the dresses because we don’t feel like putting that on my uncle and his mom who both aren’t very financially stable at the moment.
Anyways, has anyone had good luck buying online and if so where did you buy from?

Side note, my wedding is the beginning of October.

Hey! My wedding is also the beginning of October. We’re purchasing our flower girls stuff off of Etsy! They have a shop of the most beautiful flower girl dresses and they list the measurements for each size. I would just get measurements from their parents and then get whatever size is closest! Our dresses are only like $45. So even if they have to get a couple alterations to make it fit, it’ll still be a lot cheaper than the ones you were looking at.

Hey there! I am not sure about your vision of the dresses, is it something particular you are looking for? I purchased my flower girls dresses at Target, $24ea and added a sash for $5. They were dresses available around holiday seasons and perfect for us. You don't need to break the bank for flower girls dresses, all department stores (think Khols, Macy's, Target, Walmart, Burlington) have nice selections for kids and its possible to stay well below that price tag you mentioned. - Unless of course you want those very bridal, very formal dresses for your girls.

    Good luck!

My friend bought her flower girl's dress on Etsy. It was very cute! I think she had to take it to a seamstress for a small adjustment but it still ended up a great value for overall price. I am going to order off Etsy for my flower girl as well. Most dresses we found and liked were $50 or less so even if one is awful and I order a second it might still be cheaper than going through a bridal store. We are trying to time it so that it's late enough that she won't grow too much after it's ordered but early enough to make sure we like it and to get it altered if needed. My wedding is October 13 and we'll order around mid August.

Get the measurements of the girls. They really don't grow much wider in a short period of time, just taller, if anything. Choose a dress that has a sash waist. If it's a bit too big, you can tie it more snuggly with the sash.

There is no reason to pay that kind of money for a flower girl dress. You can find dresses at T J Maxx, even Walmart.

I have used Zulily many times for both my kids and nieces and nephews. They carry the same dress in sizes from 12 months to size 14 so it's easy to find the same dress for two girls. They don't carry their own stock in all items. They have a sale, then order what they need from the manufacturer at a discount price. The "end of sale" date is posted on all items. When they receive it , it is shipped to you so don't wait for the last minute. I have never had an excessive delay in shipping.Anything with a rocket symbol is ready to ship.

The pink dress is $19.99, the ivory is $36.99

I may not be much help because I haven’t actually ordered them yet but I’m getting mine off amazon for around $30 each. We aren’t doing super formal attire and I’m honestly not too concerned about the dresses not fitting properly. FG are going to be 2yrs and 9yrs.... at this age most things will fit decently off the rack. My only concern with sizing is how fast kids grow so I’m waiting to buy them... I think you have great timing in purchasing yours for October wedding. Any longer than 6 months is too soon IMO for growing kids.

Our flower girls will be the same ages as yours! I bought theirs on Amazon, I still need to see that the ivory matches my ivory dress when I go to my fitting, but they are beautiful and look like nice quality, hopefully they fit well. Anyway, they were under $40 on Amazon. Walmart has a TON of flower girl dresses, which is were I originally saw them. Many are 3rd party vendors through Walmart, I felt more comfortable buying from Amazon in case I do need to return. I can't see spending a small fortune on their dresses, I know they will be ruined before the end of the night!

I have seen people finding dresses at Old Navy for flower girls so maybe check there?

I found mine on Amazon but my flower girl is a lot younger... a 9 year old might not like this but if so it's $33

I ordered mine from JJs House. I know some people have had a bad experience with them but mine was great. I ordered dresses for a 2 and 4 year old and they only need to be hemmed. I think they were 55 dollars before shipping. Not sure about sizes for older girls though. The quality is good and they worked with me to do a custom sash color at no extra charge.

See that’s kinda what I thought but then when I went to different shops they were saying it would be like 14-16 weeks for certain dresses to come in and thats too late for my wedding! I even said "I didn’t know I was so behind on getting these dresses!”

My dresses came pretty quick, about a week. The only reason I considered ordering from a company overseas is because I knew I had enough time to return and opt for a plan b if it didn’t work out. Just something to consider given the mixed reviews for JJs House

Check amazon! Tons of cute dresses on there BUT ONLY BUY THROUGH AMAZON that way if you need to return it you can. Don't buy from third party sellers.

I got my niece’s dress on sale from BHLDN. They have a great return policy & the quality of the dress is wonderful. Definitely worth a look.
