Advice for planning post-elopement brunch?

Cam, on May 22, 2025 at 5:33 AM Posted in Planning 1 1

My fiancé and I are planning on eloping next fall and having a small intimate brunch with 20 family members after. Any tips or advice about planning and logistics. I have people flying in from out of town so still want it to feel meaningful and like a celebration and not just brunch. But also my fiancé and I are both introverts (hence the elopement) so we don't want all the bells and whistles of a traditional reception.

We're planning on renting a private room at a restaurant for our three course brunch and having candles, and flowers, maybe a playlist. But any ideas on how to make it feel more special? Also not sure if we should plan something for after or maybe the night before?

I assume you are speaking of elopement as a small wedding with only the closest people as your guests. It seems special enough to have these people as your guests since some couples even want to just be alone for the ceremony. But take whatever simplifications of the ceremony such as simpler attire or avoiding a walk down the aisle. It still is good to keep some of that to help keep the feel of a typical wedding.

Maybe for gathering after the ceremony it could help just to get a short 20 word description of each guest and share that, to help get the guests familiar with each other in a brief way. Just have one person reading the descriptions and then have that person wave to show who is being described. Okay. Just a spur-of-the-moment idea. It should be good just having the meal together for your new marriage.
