Advice For My First Bridal Show???

Hannah, on August 4, 2017 at 11:08 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

I'm attending The Pink Bride Bridal Show in Knoxville, TN on August 13th, and I am very excited! I really don't know what to expect though! Any advice?

You are going to be providing your email to a lot of vendors, my advice is to create a separate email for all wedding related things.

You will be writing your name, address, and email a lot. If you are able to bring labels with your information it makes it a lot easier and faster. I had heard this tip before my first show but didn't take the advice and quickly regreted it! Also, it can be overwhelming with how many booths there are. If you have a bit of an idea of which vendors you need it makes going through a little less overwhelming.

Labels? Where would I get those? That would be a good idea because then there wouldn't be any miscommunications because of handwriting.

I created an email as mentioned above. It's been really helpful to keep the wedding communication in one place. Plus places like David's Bridal and Men's Warehouse spam A LOT. So nice to not have that in my day to day inbox.

I also used the labels and I would suggest it. Buying the box of labels from Target and printing them at home were so worth it. I actually had other brides saying they wish they had done the same. I was worried they might not pull my name because of the extra bulk, but I actually won two prizes...so maybe it was a good tactic. Smiley winking

    EDIT: clarification

You can get the label paper at any office supply store. I've also seen them at target and walmart by the printer paper.

I don't have a photo, but it was basically like this:

    Name

    Address

    Email address

    phone number

You could also add the wedding date if you have it and consider adding your fiance's name too, but I didn't have either of those and it worked fine.

Please only give your email address/contact information to vendors you are TRULY interested in discussing services with more. People on here often complain they are inundated with emails and calls by vendors after wedding expos. Well vendors pay a lot of money to be there and the goal is to get clients, not just give away free stuff, so yes, we are going to contact you.

I only contact people who either fill out the contact form at my booth or list on their expo form that they are still looking for photography. Unfortunately some vendors do message EVERY person, regardless if they wanted to be contacted or not.

So please - fill out your expo forms accurately (don't just check every box if you're not really interested) and only give your info to vendors at their booths if you are actually interested in talking more.

Aside from that, have fun! And eat lots of samples Smiley smile

It is so overwhelming! There's so much going on in one place! Also, be careful who you give your info to! My phone and email were being blown up after I went which was so annoying. I would consider making a separate email like others said. I made the mistake of giving the vendors I couldn't care less about all of my info because I felt pressured and I really regret it. Lesson learned. Lol

Penny - it's not false advertisement if you gave your number for an inquiry about services. Do not give your number in the first place if you don't want to be contacted. Vendors should not/cannot sell or give away personal information.

Hannah - Please don't make something up. Just don't give your information if you don't want to be contacted.

This is really just common sense and common courtesy.

Here are the labels I used and the info I put on them. I prefer email only contact and did not want a bunch of calls so I left my phone number off of the label.

Know that you're probably going to be contacted by some company saying that you won something (free rings, honeymoon, etc) and all you have to do is attend a couple's information session.

It's a hard sell tactic and a PITA to many that fall into the trap.
