Advice for getting pictures that guests take

Jamie, on September 30, 2019 at 1:39 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 2 11
So I'm doing an I Spy game at the reception. I'm putting our cell numbers on them for people to text their pictures to, but I also want to do either an email or app option for them to send them too if they wish. Which would be simpler, and more likely for guests to use? If I do a photo sharing app, I have to let people know to download it and how it works. I'm thinking older guests may not do this, or even younger guests won't wanna deal with it. However, few people think to email pictures anymore. I want to make this as simple as possible so hopefully more guests will do it. I love candid pictures, so I'm hoping more than a few guests partake in the I Spy game. Any advise? What would you as a guest prefer to do? Download an app to upload pictures too (they can also be automatically uploaded depending on the app we choose)? Or email them?

I would go with the app. It sounds like less work for guests and would only take a few minutes to download.

I ended up just asking my friends individually to send me their photos aha. but there are definitely apps and websites where you can send a large email to people and they can upload it to. i think even weddingwire may have one

I am interested in this too and we were just talking about this last night. I was thinking of creating the hashtag this site offers and have people put it on Instagram BUT I would want all the pictures, including the raw ones that no one wants to post. Might have to go to the "email-me-those" route and maybe just create a cute email address just for guest photos. I might match the email to the hashtag.

I think ask a few trustworthy, close friends and family ahead of the wedding to take a few candids and share them with you. You’d be surprised how few people will send you photos after the wedding... but this is why we hire professional photographers! 😂 If your photographer will be staying for part or all of the reception, let him/her know you’d like some candid shots as well.

That's such a cute hashtag! I thought about doing that, but I wanna be able to actually have the pictures. Hopefully people decide to participate!

I totally agree about wanting the pictures!! The only problem is I won't know who took pictures to ask them to email me them! If nothing else, hopefully people can at least text me their pictures lol

That's a good idea! I'll definitely let him know, I love seeing people loving the moment their in with candid shots. Portraits are beautiful too, but I love seeing people in action as well.

I understand that I hope they do to. I feel like I've heard of an app for that. But youd have to google it
    And thanks I love it

So last night I played around and have my phone number to text pics too, an email listed, and I found a relatively simple photo sharing app that people just need a 6 digit code (that I put on the game) to join our album with a quick sign up. So at the bottom of the game it says:

    "Please text pictures to 000-000-0000
    Or email to *******@*****.***
Or upload pics to our wedding album by downloading PictureApp and using code 123456"

It all fits neatly, but is it too much?
