Adresses for Invitations?

Linsay, on January 27, 2020 at 1:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Sooo we didn't send out "Save the dates". instead, I posted a #TBT on Halloween 2019, which fell on a Thursday, of our very first picture together. The caption pretty much stated that a year from today's date, we will be married, save the date so on and so fourth. So in this new generation, everything is at hand, mobile and quick. I need help!

1) How can I go about obtaining addresses to send the Invitations as a group, without having to individually contact everyone??

2) With this electronic world we live in, would it be bad to ask the guest that when sending me the address, let me know whether they prefer a electronic invitation/rsvp or a hard copy?? this may help cut cost and plus who really keeps invitations these days.

1.) There are websites, like Postable, that will collect addresses for you, although you would have to email the link and at that point, it would probably be just as easy to ask for their mailing address as their email address. I also feel like if you want someone to attend your wedding, the least you can do is copy and paste a text message asking for their address.

2.) This is fine as long a you're having a very casual wedding. Your invitations convey the formality of your event, so if you're planning to go any more formal than a backyard BBQ, I would stick with paper invitations.

I think your best bet is to ask everybody individually for their address and then see if any close family or friends that you feel comfortable asking what they would prefer as an electronically or hard copy and everyone else extended family, coworkers etc. would just get a hardcopy

There really isn't one way to obtain everyone's addresses without messaging each person. My mom and mother-in-law gave us addresses for a lot of our guests, but the rest we reached out to on our own. I would recommend checking with your parents or your fiance's parents to see if they have addresses for your guests. Otherwise I would reach out to each person as this is only way you can really do it. I would send each person a hard copy of the invitations rather than some. It sounds like more work to send hard copies to some and electronic copies to others.

I had to text, call and message everyone to get my addresses! It is a lot of work, but worth it!

I’d just send everyone a text message asking for their addresses. It doesn’t take long. Plus even if you didn’t end up sending a paper invite you’ll need their addresses for thank you cards anyway

I had some addresses already, my parents had some, and my fiance's parents had some. Any that we didn't have, I just contacted myself. I put everything into an excel spreadsheet so we could use mailmerge for the labels. I think it's ok to ask them how they would prefer to rsvp. However, you can get a digital download rsvp card on etsy for like $5 and print them at home. So cheap, and then you don't have to mess with the electronic rsvp, which didn't work for me btw. I had my bridesmaids try it ahead of time and we had some issues.

I used minted for address collection. Then I posted the link on facebook and made sure that only the people invited to the wedding could see it. I probably got 20-30 addresses that way. I direct messaged another 10 or so people.

We asked everyone for their addresses. I think that electronic STD's are fine but I would suggest sending out actual invited for the wedding.
