Administrative Fee/Meal Tax

Megan, on February 10, 2009 at 11:22 PM Posted in Planning 0 2

Hi! I'm trying to calculate my reception price. They say there is a 20% administrative fee and 5% mass. meal tax added to all food and beverage. How do you calculate this? Do you add the meal and beverage together? Do you take 20% and 5% at the same time? I'm very confused. I'm thinking of having 120 people for around 70 a meal with an open bar for one hour @ $15 per person. Any help would be much appreciated!

That seems alittle high to me. All of the venues I checked out had tax & gratuity included in the price per person. Are you sure it's not already included in the $70 & $15 per head? Call & double check because if it's not this is going to add a big chunk of change to the price of your reception.

My extras are similar...16.5% service fee, 1.5% admin fee, 5% mass tax. Do you know if the admin fee includes the gratuity? I assume mine is included in the service fee, but I'm not sure.

    So you're paying $85/pp for 120 people...that's $10,200

multiply that by 25% = $2550, then add them up.

    $12,750 should be the total.
