Admin notifications and old posts

N, on January 9, 2019 at 4:34 PM Posted in Account Support 0 10

Ok, so I understand the admins (at least I think that's what it means when there is a WW logo on the corner of your profile pic) want to liven up the forums from time to time and get us active on here....but is there a way to opt out of that? It is kind of annoying to see once again I'm being friended/my wall is being written on by someone who does not know me at all. The email notifications I thought were not going to be so plentiful unless it was for a chatty post, which brings me to my next point. Silly me participated in one of the silly admin posts saying something like "who is older, your or your SO?" or "who is more ____, you or your SO?". Months later I am still getting notifications from this post as people trickle in. Is there a way to turn off this for individual posts???

Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this way, but is this seriously something that can be adjusted because these are cluttering my emails.

Just uncheck the box at the bottom that says “notify me when new comments are added to this discussion.” Admins will very occasionally write on your wall, but we’re talking about less than once a month.

There is a way to turn off notifications, but only if you do it before you reply. Just uncheck the box that says, "Notify me when new comments are added in this discussion" below the reply box.

Unfortunately, if you forget to do that, there doesn't seem to be a way to stop getting comments later on.

That's funny. I've never gotten notifications for any posts even though I haven't unchecked that box.

Me too! I’ve always noticed the box but I never unchecked it or anything. I don’t get notified unless it’s a reply to my message or it’s my actual post

Yea, I got that first part down. Just doesn't look like there's a way to stop the mudslide after you've stepped in it if you know what I mean. Some of them I do want to see answers for but after a while some get redundant and I would like to opt out :/

I know that, but for one I just didn't realize it was auto-checked. Now I've got emails telling me about a post from November. Admins I get notifications from enough for me to wonder why I'm getting so many emails from this site from just them for reasons that don't interest me.
It would be great if I could if they could only intervene on walls for disputes and not request friends unless it was discussed beforehand for a particular reason. This site is pretty good, but it is really this portion that irks me -sigh-

I doubt anything will be done to change this so I was just hoping it somehow could be changed lol. If I get notified it is for if I get replied to and when other comments are added.

Hey there! Outside of unchecking the 'Notify me when new comments are added in this discussion' box, you can update your email notification preferences in the 'Settings' portion of your account! To do that, click on your icon in the top right corner of the page and click 'Settings'. From there, click 'Notifications' on the left side and you will then be able to uncheck the forum notifications that you would like to receive!

Ok, so I am fully aware of how to do that. I would just like a solution for questions that I don't want to see notifications anymore for. Things that are useful from the forums are what I want notifications for. Is there no way to CANCEL them after the deed is done is what I am asking. It is pretty ridiculous to still be getting notifications from a November post about something that is not particularly helpful (I acknowledge this was my own fault being new, but still it would be great to be able to opt out). Since you did not address the admin writing on my wall and friending me portion, I'm assuming that is not something I can alter either. Perhaps these things should be options for those who have been on here x amount of months in the future when you guys are thinking on ways to improve the site.

Some of the features and forums here are great though. I just ask that you guys take this into consideration even though I may be alone in this thinking.
