Adhesive bra?

Carissa Brittney, on March 6, 2017 at 7:27 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Second post of the morning already! I was tossing and turning all night thinking of a million different things... stinks because I'm a teacher and had to wake up at 4:30. So terrible.

Question for you ladies going strapless. Trying to decide about a bra. I was thinking about the adhesives. I admittedly don't have the biggest chest and need something a little extra. I have worn the adhesive bras before and I think it helps a little -- is there any one you would suggest that would give me some umph? I'm not sure about cups in my dress/if that would help/what cost would be... so I'm interested to hear your opinions on that! I'm only going to be wearing my wedding dress for the ceremony and then changing into a less formal reception dress.

From my understanding adhesive bras can slide if you start to sweat. I'm getting cups sewn into mine, don't know the cost exactly but I don't think it was anything too crazy. They gave me the option of normal cups or "push up", I have a vneck dress with straps so I opted for push up. Id shop around for some options online and see what you can find that will work with your dress. Buy one or two and take them to your first fitting to see what works. Keep the receipts so you can return what you don't use! Don't stress girl!

Depending on your dress style, I would try a longline bra first. It's designed to keep the girls where they are supposed to be, smooths out your midsection and some have cup padding and low backs. I have worn adhesive bras (purchased at the Mart of Wal's) in weddings before and they worked out great (even in the Florida gulf). I'm on the fence for what I'm going to wear in my own as well. I did some googling this weekend and did find a couple websites that have the longlines for $30. If your dress can hold them and not show seams, adding cups to a gown is not a large task or expensive if you have someone local adding them. I volunteer with a bridal salon in VA, our seamstress charges like $20.

Prepare for your skin to be ripped off and irritated when you finally take the bra off.

Hey Charissa, sorry you're going to be tired today, that sucks.

I've worn a stick on bra before, it works just ok so I wouldn't really recommend the brand to you. I wear the adhesive cups when I absolutely can't wear any other type of bra but I don't think they really give any good umph, I think they mostly just give nice shape. I'm also smaller in the chest and for umph I'm all about longline strapless bras, can you wear one under your style of dress? They do make very low back ones if that is an issue. And I would recommend at least checking to see how sewn in cups would feel and look, at your next fitting I'd ask the seamstress to pin some into place for you. It'll vary store to store of course but sewing in cups should really be pretty inexpensive.

I hated wearing adhesive bras. They absolutely slide off.

I have 34DD. I had cups sewn into my dress. It was about $20 total, and 100% worth it. My girls feel supported and in place!

Remember your dress will be molded to your body. So that's also going to help support the girls!

I tried an adhesive bra and thought it worked just fine. Then I tried it on with the dress and realized that, with it stuck to me so completely, every time I raised my arms, the bra rose up out of the top of my dress! Just something to check if you go that route.

I just had my fitting with the cups sewn in and it's wayyyy better than any strapless bra I've ever worn (especially adhesive!). I was able to choose from lined, padded, or super padded cups. It only added $30 to my alterations cost and I'm so happy with how it feels and looks.
