Addressing Invites Name Question

Sophie, on March 13, 2020 at 7:44 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 8

Hi all!

I'm about to address my invitations and I have a question. What I'm finding online is to do

"Mr. John and Ms. Jane Doe"

but it sounds better to me to do

"Mr. and Ms. John and Jane Doe"

Is it ok to do it that way? Or should I stick with the first way?

Thank you!

(BTW, I am doing Ms. not Mrs. for all invites)

If they have the same last name it’s Mr. and Ms. jones. Inside if you’re using an inside envelope. Then it’s John and Jane on inner envelope with no last name.

I prefer the first way because in the second way it looks like it says “Ms John” to me lol.

But either way is fine! Honestly the only thing I can’t stand is when it’s addressed to Mr and Mrs John Doe. I am not Mrs John Doe, don’t call me that, I’m married but I still have my own first name 🙄

Hahah I didn't even think of that, now I want to do it the first way for sure!

Oh don't even get me started on that one, I totally feel you on that!! That's also why I'm doing Ms. not Mrs., I don't feel like it should have to be explicitly stated that women are married when it is not that way for men!

"Mr. & Mrs. Jones" ? Is that a little too old fashioned these days? Does anyone just use first & last names?

I think I want to use their first names too! I'll do first and last with Ms. or Mr. in front Smiley smile
