I think that you’re supposed to lead with whichever person you’re closest to! For example, for my close girlfriend, I invited Ms. Jane Smith and Mr. John Doe.

I believe you list the guest that is your family member or friend first if they are unmarried.

That's exactly what we did. The friend first then the SO regardless of the male/female aspect.

I did the same as all PP, so for example, my friend "Sally" is engaged to "Chris". I only know "Chris" because of "Sally" and am closer with "Sally". Therefore, their invitation was

Ms. "Sally" Doe & Mr. "Chris" Smith

If the situation was reversed, the names would've been reversed.

For couple friends we know as a couple, we addressed based on how the couple is known in our friend group!

So the proper etiquette for an unmarried couple living together is the woman’s name first and the man’s name on the line below her name. If you don’t want to do proper etiquette though it’s not a huge deal.

Yes I like what the PP said - lead with whom you are close to

I did it to the person I knew. If I had never met, or barely knew, the SO, I thought it was weird to lead with their name. If it was a couple I was equally friends with, which happened once or twice, I think I put the woman first.

I would put Ms. Mary Jones first because alphabetically J comes before S. You could also just lead with the person you're closer with.
